Couple Dives Into Trench During Tornado

As intense wind and rain whipped around a Texas couple during a tornado, they did not know whether to stay inside their RV or seek shelter outside the vehicle. Finally, they decide it’s too dangerous to be inside their vehicle. Ally Chapman took their two dogs and jumped into a watery ditch. Chapman later shared an update a day after the harrowing ordeal. The RV park they were in suffered severe damage.

  1. Smart people to get out of that vehicle. Wind can uplift from underneath. Graba banket to protect yourself from hail & flying debris. Pet harnesses on your dog before bad weather comes. Update your microchips.

  2. You shouldn’t save an animal if you only have a tiny amount of time… but
If you had longer like them do what you want.

Don’t hate it’s the truth btw

  3. Had a tornado come through Chattanooga a few years back. My mother in law lives in a trailer. When it hit she says something told her to go to one side of the trailer and not the other. She crouched in the back corner of the trailer and prayed. When it was over the trailer was completely annihilated…save one corner in the back. She came out of it with her side hurting a little. I wish you could see the photo of a large crumpled piece of aluminum with 5 trees draped across it. You would never guess somebody lived.

  4. My father was an atmospheric researcher so he knew a lot about this field and when I asked him what to do if there was a tornado where I lived he said, "Get out of the car and lie in the gutter. You want to be in the lowest place you can find." I consider these words to live by.

  5. good idea to leave the vehicle and bring the dogs… Them seeking the ditch is exactly what is taught in school to survive a tornado… the ditch however was filled with water, and there was a street light nearby… im no electrician but could they not get cuted when the pole goes down and touches the water?

  6. I really appreciate that the reporter didn't answer the question of whether they made the right decision based on whether or not their trailer survived. The right decision is to do what gives you the best chances, not just what happens to work out for you.

You can get thrown clear of a car wreck because you weren't wearing a seatbelt. That doesn't mean you made the right decision when you chose not to wear a seatbelt. It just means you got insanely lucky.

Idk what the name of that fallacy is, but it's a common one.
