I hopi they are wrong.
The last pole flip was 780k years ago according to the scientists. What we have going today is an excursion, there are ten excursion between each pole flip. Although excursions are geomagnetic flips themselves, those only flip temporarily for 100 to 400 years. The last one happened 48k years ago, but some say they occur every 12k years and we are seeing that excursion happening now. (We are almost at 40%, at 45% movement of the north pole and officially its an excursion and we are in big trouble.
