Hey its time to make videos again yay
I now have a new, exciting, 1 million dollar patron tier that will totally work out and wasn’t just me testing the limits of what patreon will put up with: https://www.patreon.com/GiantGrantGames
I also have a second channel where I play video games (Mostly StarCraft 2): https://www.youtube.com/GiantGrantGamesArchives

i like these, wouldn't mind seeing somemor eof these Grant!
20:52 Why, man, why?
Not you too…
I know is just for fun and it's an awesome concept makes me want to read an actual fan fic or even write one of my own but I got to say.
No offense, but I feel like ya downplayed some things, primarily the Leviathans themselves let alone the Zerg air and space force. It would take much more than single star destroyer to take down a single leviathan, while the destroyer has heavy fire power, the leviathans have taken worse from both the Protoss and the Terran alike yet still have came out victorious. it would take most likely 3+ star destroyers focus firing onto the leviathan to take it down, however this is the caveat, the leviathans still can release swarms of Mutalisk, Corrupters, Devourers, Scourge and more for space combat not just in atmosphere, and with the hive mind those Zerg will focus fire the key locations that is giving the leviathan trouble before unrecoverable damage can happen making them much more efficient than the pilots of the empire, not to mention they don't care for their own lives and wont hesitate to just ram their faces into the problem if that is what is needed.
Not to mention if the leviathan manages to close in a star destroyer it can LITTERALLY rip the ship apart with their Tendrils which can also be used to release Zerg into the ship if need be, and considering how close star war ships get in space combat, that is highly likely to happen. That is not including the other weaponry the leviathans have and not mention them being easier to replace/heal vs a star destroyer for long term war.
I do not think any of the sith lords could stand up to Kerrigan even for a moment. They would try to force push her/shock her and she would launch a psionic attack strong enough to tear a cruiser in half. Vader and Sidious are also just way to slow. Zeratul needed the ability to teleport, use super speed, and (essentially) invisibility to just land a single hit in a one on one.
Storm troopers cant handle advanced wildlife; no way they could handle zerg augmented wildlife.
Then I dont think the death star would last long either. Like the zerg have shown multiple times the ability to have ground forces thrive on space platforms. If a single drone landed on the death star, I think it would be straight up over. Literally best chance they have is using the death star on a planet that kerrigan is on before the zerg are aware of it. Sheer luck at that point.
Also I don't think its fair to say the leviathans couldnt destroy the cruisers. Mutalisks to close distance and destroy turrets, then leviathans infect them with ground forces. Bam, Stukov now has a fleet of star wars cruisers.
This was fun! Id love to see more analyses like these. I wonder how the zerg stacks up against the tyranids?
couple points i disagree on. leviathans are huge, there's 10k, and they would be really really easy to spot on radar like systems. also the space ships are made of flesh, they would get investigated even if noticed once. one last problem is the assumption of the initial jump. the very beginning I doubt would be as simple as you put it. it's a god damn universe conquering fleet that just jumped close to a planet. zerg would be able to hide much better in atmosphere but being in that very vulnerable and visable state after their jump, and just assuming they would succeed in staying unnoticed is giving keringan's wits and honestly luck just a bit too much love.
Space Whales are so stupid….
If you do another one of these videos please do titanfalls IMC vs The UED
I will say that if the Khala can render the Protoss immune to infestation, then I think that Force sensitives (or at least the midi-chlorians themselves) have a pretty good chance of also being immune.
New theory how would the zerg deal with an ever increasing swarm yes the current systems works but scale the relatively small zerg force by say 1000x remember the zerg have a lot of time to build up they could even inhabit planets unused by the empire befor they get taken seriously the amount they could take would probably more worlds than even in the starcraft universe relatively quickly lets say you take every leviathan and vary lightly spread them out give a mutalisk a larva and infest 1000s of worlds instantly on top of that leviathans arnt the main force projection isn't that the corruptor more ment for that role the leviathan would also be so big that it would probably take more ammunition than its worth to completely destroy in wich the zerg could drag back later to Reuse or just turn into hundreds of flying larva to go to the nearest planets also you never talked about the zergs leviathan ability to drop troops on other ships with a nydis like head to ram into a ship these might not be to effective but would draw fire away from the leviathan wich is already huge and can take a beating i think the zerg would likely be able to out grow the empire also evry direction is a expandabel direction planets that haven't even been touched by the empire would be vary quickly turned into a zerg out growth and would beable to pumpout more leviathans wich could even lead to exponential growth that then the zerg just needs to holde the line for long enough to out produce them while constantly trying to infect the population of the empire while new threats emerge from the zerg but thats just a theory i dont know how karigen would manage that big if a zerg force she would probably need to further divide the line of command but un tested and could lead to horrible miss management dew to the new system on such a large scale
I am curious if droids would be deployed to deal with infestation since I would imagine that a lot of the production present from the clone wars would still be operational if a bit run down due to a lack of a need for massive droid armies. They may take time to be repurposed and repaired but if they can start bringing out the same volume of firepower as the confederacy then it would significantly improve ground assaults.
Incredible video. We definitely need more of these. I would love to see how the protos could square up some other race. Or maybe how some other Warhammer faction can fair.
I saw comments about dark side corruption of the Zerg, it's not a concern even theoretically, since Zerg have no internal ambition. Saying they are aggressive is inaccurate, they act in complete calmness, not affected by emotions, including fear. Controlling emotions and fear/attachments is the main thing Jedi use to prevent corruption, and Zerg are the ultimate monks with antenna brains that knows how to do things but is 100% free of desires.
If anything, dark side is not even it's own thing but a destructive effect of force abuse by mentally vulnerable mortal beings (in a sense the Force is more corrupting for normal humanoids than Warhammer's warp when it is clear of demon presence, which is rare but still). Zerg may be even able to abuse it without degenerating, like some Jedi on the grayer side able to do, but much further and better.
This matching is only possible if you don't factor what Zerg can do with the Force at all.
Really interesting vid, I like how you put the thought experiment together, but didn't present it as the be all and end all argument. This is just your thoughts on how it might play out, and you go over it really well. Would love to see more like this! 🙂
Assuming that neither side can kill or mind control the leaders of the other faction for an easy win? The Zerg taking over the entire Outer Rim would more likely lead to the Zerg to ultimately win the war of attrition given enough time and smart resource management. With the power of adaptation, assimilation, and the ability to mind control other species means they can take the best of the best and use it against their opponents. Even with super weapons and heavy planetary defense systems at the Empire's disposal, the Zerg would very likely develop a way to conquer the Empire. It may take then countless quintillions of Zerg units but eventually the job would get done.
What of the scaling of Kerrigan to Darth Vader and Palpatine? She was one of most powerful psionics in the world after becoming the Queen of Blades. If we consider her psychic connection with the zerg, our siths might get in contact with her from the moment she arrives in the galaxy. The battle of psyonic abilities would be a key part of that war!
so basically …
Kerrigan = Zerg Win
no Kerrigan = Zerg Lose
This was really entertaining!
Super interesting idea ^^ was fun to listen to ^^
I also think at some point Kerrigan and the swarm would figure out that the empire can't easily produce more star destroyers and would take them out in boarding actions. The empire would quickly lose the resources to make any more as they contracted.
I think it's worth noting that shielding EVERY Imperial Mid Rim planet to protect it from the zerg infestation would take a very heavy toll on the economy, as the entire trade and logistics would be channeled into relatively small entrances where each and every ship would have to be controled. This would either mean that the zerg could simply wait for the Imperium to be forced to loosen their tight orbital control system making it easier to infest planets, or watch how the Imperium collapses under the weight of heavy civilian unrest and uneffective logistics. The only question is how long could the zerg hold out without infecting new planets, but considering that they would control possibly the entire Outer Rim, and considering how they handled in the time between the end of the Brood War and the beggining of Wings of Liberty, I think it would mean that the Imperium would be done for.
I feel like a Swarm attack on the death star would be similar to the infestation of Cybros, except they'd have the leadership and strategy of Kerrigan. They'd be able to infest the surface and eventually make their way inside.
In the banelling short story its made clear that given time the zerg would win just bashing themselves against a heavily fortified target. Time is against the empire and if they turtle the swarm would win in the long run. It would be a very bloody victory but the swarm are designed for that, it makes them stronger.
For the Midichloreans, I think they would follow the same rules as the Zerg assimilating the Protoss. Yes, they're biological, but they still can't do it. Now, they could assimilate a Jedi like they did with Kerrigan, but they couldn't mass produce units with Force powers.
I think the biggest thing that would determine how successful or not the invasion would be is tied entirely to how good the Imperial's starfighters are versus the Zerg. The average Tie-series of spacecraft are nimble, evasive, fast, and boast a lot of firepower, and could potentially destroy swathes of airborne and ground Zerg targets at a very rapid rate at very long ranges, which I feel like the Zerg would simply not have a good answer for.
Great video! Please do more. Maybe Protoss vs 40k Eldar?
i mean, under Disney all it takes to beat the empire is knowing which way is up without computer assistance, so i'm not sure this is the highest bar to clear….
This is such a fun video!
I really don't think the Empire is equipped to deal with the type of threat that the Zerg pose,.
The Empire and its military are structured and designed for the oppression of civilians on a galactic scale, and small rebellions. They are NOT equipped for full-scale wars against another superpower. Star Destroyers are incredibly vulnerable to kamikaze strikes given some of the weakest point defense systems in Sci-Fi… and one of the Zerg's best anti-ship weapons are Scourge.
A wave of Scourge flying through space with instructions to avoid the main body of Star Destroyers and hit bridges, engines, and the shield domes would be a serious, major problem for The Empire. And the Death Star itself is more of a liability. It'll get one shot off on a planet, but they'd lose it in the resulting slaughter. Assimilated and infested troopers, the fact that Queen's can spawn units without the need for much other than biomass means every trooper killed… is another Zergling, Hydralisk, or god forbid the Zerg start spawning Ultralisks inside of the Death Star… There is NO SHOT the Empire could hold the Death Star against a Zerg invasion of it. I'm not even confident the blasters Stormtroopers are equipped with is enough to deal with heavier plated Zerg units the way Marine's projectile-based weapons are. The Gauss Rifles pack more of a punch than a blaster does.
ultimately i think the zerg would win simply do to moral and attrition, no matter how much propaganda and indoctrination the empire has their still human, they will falter, they will rebel(especially if kerrigan can be a bit less cruel and actually ally with some of them), things that weaken them from within while the zerg have no such issues, the exception would be if the emperor , threw a mix of cloning, brain chips, drugs, and the force, pulled a UED and started creating slave broods
also i dont think the zerg getting access to the force is that big of a deal, they can already create psionic strains and the force cant do all that much that an equivalently powerful psychic cant
Vipers can abduct mama ships so a few of them can team up to pull the deathstar wherever
Jokes aside, lore wise this battle was over the moment midichlorians were introduced.
Abathur would find a way to abuse that in no time.
Terran dominion vs starwars next
Ignoring your force sensetive zerg scenario (which honestly I think is more likely), even if the zerg and empire end up in your stalemate scenario the empire is still doomed. The only reason the empire was able to hold back the swarm to begin with is due to the fact that they have an entire galaxy's worth of infrastructure behind it. With the zerg suppressing and disrupting trade, the empire's infrastructure disolves. Their hold over the galaxy crumbles, and all of a sudden they are not able to replenish losses to attrition. The zerg's infrastructure is biological, not tech, so they don't need trade, they just need DNA and sustinence. An entrenced empire cannot win a war of attrition, which the zerg THRIVES on. Zerg win, hands down.
Deathstar crew: ''One thousand infested planets in the rim, one thousand infested planets in the rim, you blow on up, it's not enough, one thousand and ten infested planets in the rim.
Let's be honest, if Thrawn hadn't disappeared a few years prior to this Zerg invasion… The Zerg would have been screwed. One thing is to deal with the overconfident display of power Tarkin would hurl against the Zerg, but dealing with the tactical brilliance, careful calculations, cultural studying and unbelievable effectiveness on the warzone, that Thrawn would bring? That could likely bring upon an early end for the Zerg invasion.
I love the use of the cut Heart of the Swarm content, but I love even more how the broodmother is straight up named "Ryloth" after, well, Ryloth the planet from StarWars. XD
The geonocian genocide is honestly the best preventitive measure the Empire could've done against The Swarm. With the zombie geonocian parasites, the swarm could've infested force users and control them, essentially creating more Kerrigans like the Overmind did in StarCraft 1 as we saw during The Clone Wars on Barris. Large-scale psionic power or force power was the one thing holding them back from gaining purity of form in the eyes of The Overmind and the Xel'Naga.
Another X-Factor is the fact that if the Swarm ever got any essence of the Zilla beast, it'd be over for the Empire. While their ATATs and ATSTs used its plating to become incredibly tanky themselves, even that didn't do so well against a live Zilla beast where its only weakness was long-term exposure to electricity or gassing it, two weaknesses Swarm Zilla beasts would not have anymore and it'd be complete annihilation, especially in tandem with Purgil which would be The Swarm's best anti-capital ship ever.
Honestly, really enjoyed this exercise. Putting a story to it so things play out like an actual war campaign and series of battles, rather than in a vacuum really sets it apart from other "VS" videos out there and contextualizes how the factions would interact in a far more telling way. Nicely done!
Base Delta Zero
empire will probably sent Boba fett to kill Kerrigan and the rest is history.
Let's be real, this sort of thought experiment is just 100% wankery because the settings usually just flat out don't work, so the question becomes whose/which impossibilities you ignore. And I don't mean just in the usual SciFi sense of "actually, FTL is impossible", but rather that the writers do not have a sense of scale, so you have things like the armor in BattleTech having air-level density, or the galaxy-spanning empire in Star Wars having less logistics sophistication than Earth cca 1950, which just does not work.
To provide a current comparison, the universe in Star Wars has about the same of logistics sophistication and scalability as Russia has… and we see how that is working out for them right now. Running galaxy-spanning war using that logistics is just not happening.
Similarly, the logistics in SC2 outside of Protoss are ??? ??? ??? (Protoss are handwaved as doing everything off-screen and warping things in), so it is not like Zerg's logistics make more sense.
Still, the video was fun-enough to listen to while sick.
I think it would be extremely likely that the zerg would adapt to have force powers, but I don't agree that it would become one-sided once they did. Something you neglected from Starcraft is the existence of the Psi-emitter and Psi-disrupter, something that a technological advanced Empire would have no problem developing.
The ultimate end-game would be if the Force using Zerg can out-adapt the ever increasing Psi-Emitter technology that the Empire would be weaponizing against them. Whether they can evolve past this major weakness would determine the ultimate victor.
Holy effing hell. You stepped into one of my favorite niche’s
I noticed somethi g you never mentioned that the swarm could infest and control star destroyers and use them because it starcraft battlecruisers can be infested and a star destroyer wouldnt be super different
