Could daffodils help solve climate change?

Daffodils could help the fight against climate change by cutting the amount of methane produced by cows.

Scientists are trailing a new method of adding an extract from the flowers to livestock feed which has been shown to reduce methane in artificial cow stomachs by 96%.

The technique developed by the scientists at Scotland’s Rural College is being tested on farms across the UK.

Sky’s Becky Johnson has been to find out more.

  1. The methane cows produce is not the problem. It's industry. Governments simply want to create more 'room' for industry to create filth on the planet. They'd happily starve us all in the process!

  2. Second only to the unscientific and illogical theory of evolution, man-made global warming / climate change is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated against humanity by Earth-worshipping zealots who are stealing $trillions of your tax dollars to fund their false religion and lies.

  3. I’ve read about algae which also reduces methane in cows stomachs. If it is not too expensive to add, all farmers in the UK should be legally required to add this to livestock feed

  4. People protect your Cows!! Big corporate agriculture companies want to destroy ancient grass meadows and wipe out all the wildlife to grow commercial crops. It is vandalising our historic countryside and obliterating so much diversity of ecology. Buy your food wisely and support your cows. Stop this bad press about our beloved cows!

  5. We’re growing more Soya for animal feed world wide than food for humans…. Just over 70 percent of the soybeans grown in the United States are used for animal feed, with poultry being the number one livestock sector consuming soybeans, followed by hogs, dairy, beef and aquaculture.
