  2. now I am left wondering. If a large group of aircraft (stealth or not), fly real close together, will radar have an easier time picking them up, instead of if they would fly solo/in pairs? I am genuinely curious.

  3. Don't take my word for it but look up what happens to aircraft caught in an A380s wake. A couple years ago an air Canada flight accidentially went through the wake and the "dead air" caused it to drop a couple hundred feet in seconds.causing havoc in the cabin of course.

  4. I just dont believe these sams are anywhere near as effective as theyre modled in game. Im not saying they arent an effective anti air site but I mean come on. 400km with almost pinpoint accuracy. It's absurd and my guess its a huge exaggeration of the truth. With what Ive gathered from this sim is that if these sites were really that effective Ukraine wouldve lost all their planes months ago. Yet they still have close to 50

  5. This happened in Syria around 2017/18 Israel's airforce had two F-16s shaddow a Russian Jet, then when they got in range of a Syrian S-300 The Israeli Jet fired several missiles at the S-300 and turned and burned diving for the deck and the S-300 Shot the Russian jet if i am remembering correctly? Anyone else remember the event?

  6. If you want to use the a380 as your cover, you should position yourself in a way that the a380 is between you and the enemy radar. So above the a380 in an appropriate angle relative to a380 and the enemy radar. There is no way an enemy radar can look past the a380 but its technically possible to see planes next to it, depending on radar resolution. So bascially, you were exposed to the enemy sensors because you did not break line of sight.

  7. RE Wingtips: The high pressure air under the wing tries to sneak over the top through vortices around the wingtip. The extra bend at the end of the wing blocks these vortices, F1 cars have plates at the end of their wings for similar reasons.

  8. Question is, was the AS400 tipped off by the A380 flight crew or by the passengers? Clearly the A380 was trying to lose the jets by flying slow, but would it be more realistic for it to change course, or just surrender and fly to wherever those jets had come from?

  9. Iran never did this, there is no evidence and no story about this at all, first he says I'm sure then says "maybe" that's enough to determine validation. but if you're looking for someone did this, Israelis did with Russian plane over Syria that cause Russian plane shout down

  10. Just wondering, if Ukrainians rigged a transport plane (Il-18, An-22…) to drop Rapid Dragon style palletized containers with a $hi# ton of decoys and missiles, could Mig 29s and Su 25s take out the 400?

  11. Try recreating the tactics used by the Vulcans and Buccaneers at Red Flag – use B1 lancers at low level (Nap of the earth) and max speed as bait, with 2-3 4th gen SEAD aircraft flying underneath the lancer in its radar shadow.

At Red Flag the Americans detected a Vulcan flying at 100-150 ft and vectored interceptors not realising the Vulcan was hiding three Buccaneer escorts.

There are also photos from Red Flag of Buccaneers flying lower than the tops of telegraph poles during penetration missions!

  12. Hey Cap! Those bits on the ends of the wings are winglets, specifically fenced winglets on the Airbus, like the one in the video. As lift is generated, the high pressure air spills over the wingtip onto the top of the wing and massively increases induced drag by mixing with / disturbing the low pressure air on the upper surface. This also creates disturbances in the air behind the aircraft (wake turbulance), which can cause issues especially when its a larger aircraft operating in a busy area such as an airports airspace / busy airway. By placing the winglets there, it creates a physical barrier to minimise any air "spilling" onto the top of the wing, so you get less drag, better efficiency and you wont kill a cessna thats taking off behind you with the wake turbulane which is great as well! Hope this was informative 🙂

  13. So did the S400 actually see the A380 on radar or when you set the airliner to neutral does it just turn off targeting for the s400 all together in DCS for that aircraft – In effect making the A380 invisible thus easily picking up the fighters as there’s no shadow at all? Seems like that might be what’s going on like it’s a game configuration logic problem.

  14. Hey what a surprise, the Russians shot at another airliner. BTW the Iranian incident in the 80's was a scheduled passenger flight that was shot down by a US ship, I don't think it was being used as cover for an attack.

  15. S400s are fitted out with many different configurations – can Russia afford to have so many linked systems carrying so many (all of) the various missile types to be 100% effective? We know the answer to that will be "no" – will the maintenance schedules even be up to date? Dozens and dozens of Russian SAM sites were taken out in Libya with mostly conventional aircraft with SEAD and no loses to SAMs. The Russian systems are totally over-rated in this game.
