Love the content, just found your channel. Was wondering if you could do a defense of pearl harbor with modern aircraft?
This is spectacular in VR!
The CE-172P had an issue with the seats unlocking and sliding back during takeoff. An AD had to be issued for a fix on the seat rails to prevent the tippy-toe issue. So yes, every once in a while it's a real plane thing too. Happened to me a few times to be saved by the AD.
Am I an idiot for not knowing why, but when the server is paused the Apache's have the Longbow FCR on top which disappears when unpaused?
Why don't you guys use TOWS next time. They're wire guided, but wouldn't they be more effective if you control them?
Amazing how fast you can go through 16 Hellfires.
If you used the gun and rocket pods as well your have killed all the tanks in less sorties.
Why not: Could a squadron Typhoons have prevented D-Day.
It would be awesome if someone recreated the old Megadrive game, Desert Strike using this game.
Wow these guys don't know shit about HF missiles
@GrimReapers There isn't a WWII tank that won't be destroyed or rendered combat ineffective by the AGM-114. You may just be talking in game errors. Cap also mentions high trajectory. It is important to note that the Hellfire automatically climbs and impacts so the aircraft altitude has little effect. Employ the weapon systems in the best tactical position and the missile will do the rest.
Also, not sure how DCS handles this but your biggest challenge in desert environments while engaging moving armor would be laser backscatter. The dust from the tracks, smoke from burning vehicles would potentially degrade laser spot accuracy. To help with the latter engage the furthest targets first (or highest threat in modern engagements).
As someone else mentioned LOAL is always a great tool to use to minimize the effects of laser cross contamination and backscatter.
Use 30mm on trucks and soft targets. Save Hellfire for Armor.
Does DCS support IAT? That is a nice way to track the target and reduce workload on the CPG when tracking moving targets.
Lastly, just a technique thing. If you use LOAL you can have multiple missiles in the air at once. This is more effective in the scenario you are playing where armor is grouped and at a longer range. You would positively ID your targets and launch first missile like normal. You can then send a second missile and move your spot after the first impacts. You obviously need enough time to move the laser spot and have the missile react. If targets are too far apart or too close this obviously doesn't work well.
Great video!
what does the front seat do besides operating the 20 mm?
Apaches for the win cause they know no L's 🙂
I like the idea of this, but Apache vs Bf109 or Fw109 or the Italian birds the Germans used would also have to be considered.
LOL Helicopters FTW. Study Sims FTW.
I'm getting strong "Final Countdown" vibes..
During the Second Battle of El Alamein, the British 57mm Six Pounder Anti Tank gun ripped the heart out of Rommel's tanks. Panzer 4, even at maximum range, was toast against these high velocity guns
Were are the key blinds for the AH-64D Apache?
Cap,
I really wish you'd stop using the Lord Jesus' name in vain.
When you say it, I really can't finish watching.
How about a modernized version of this assault? In this Szenario here the Apache had no qualm with AA and SAM, those would make it more interessant than hovering high and shoot turkeys.
Does DCS have a AC-130 Gunship?
Bro i love this channel
you have no clue on how the AH survives….low and slow. Heli job is interdiction, not applicable force. This is why we use an integrated TAS. I understand that you can't really see a battlefront, but it is just a game.
Why not have someone do Highspeed strafing runs with unguided Missles, would be real cool.
I'm brand new to DCS, I barely got in on the spring sale and Just ordered about $250 worth mods, maps ,Jets. I'm in que for WinWing Orion F-16 Combo pckg $649. I know from watching some vids I will love this combat sim. The learning curve is very high for this sim from what I understand, who has the best simply explained training video's??
What program are you using this is way awesome and finally someone actually did this..
After a search for an acceptable international news channel. Seeking data on the Russian military attack on Ukraine.
Found your channel and can.t seem to watch anything else. Your military sorties utilizing your simulation software seem to have captivated me.
This is very interesting and educational. Thanks and keep u[ the interesting scenarios.
Cheers
Who thought of this weird idea? Why would the siege need to be prevented? It was won, what a waste of time. Just another brit trying to denigrate the ANZAC legend.
Super good Cap and The Boys. True talent, BRAVO
Ka50s can annihilate much more than this. I see so many hellfires missing the mark.
Not, because the Afrika Korps had X Wing.
just guns are good enough
I'm pretty sure there were no Panther tanks in north Africa
The Australians at Tobruk didn't need your helicopters to kick Nazi ass. They did it the hard way, as was the fashion of the time. Still, I'm sure they would have bought you a beer if you had been there.
Almost seems like you forgot that you've got a 30mm cannon at your disposal.
What about the Luftwaffe?
Looks like Hellfire sucks
I absolutely love your channel and content. Outside of the operational challenges due to the processing it would be interesting to see the psychological impact element added. Not only from modern warfare scenarios but also how WWII era combatants would react to modern warcraft suddenly showing up and decimating them.
Anytime you ask if 50 year more advanced military technology can change the outcome of something the answer is yes.
The only new tech that wouldn’t crush old tech is warship’s. Those thick armored hulls are a problem.
What about german air support? I imagine WW2 fighters would still be a danger to Apaches?
Anyone remember the old Saturday night live skit with Dan Aykroyd talking about if they had a B-52’s with nuclear weapons in the Civil War?
Imagine being Rommel and trying to figure out what the fuck is happening.
The most intense game of bloons tower defense XD
Should have used hand held Laser Target Designators in the field.
That way, you don't even have to show your chopper to the enemy, you could literally all just hide behind a hill and fire your rockets, like fire and forget.
The men in the field with the laser target designators would make sure all were hits.
Great show of learning to fly and fight with the Apache!
Now try the same scenario but with Cold War era tanks.
And ZSU-23-4 Shilkas…
My grandfather was at Tobruk with the 9th. When it was over he was shipped home for R&R. Just in time to be rushed to Kokoda.
Now add a couple of flights of early German fighters.
Hellfire defeats any WW2 tank regardless of approach angle…
