Ii belive the turtel asks for tomato in summer

The turtle offerings are seasonal the potato becomes corn and the cucumber becomes tomato. To unlock tomato seed you need the island ranking to D or complete the summer offering.
there is a straw path and fence system you unlock by leveling up ranching.

You didn't miss the trash, it actually comes back though only a little. Not as much as the beginning. In a way it is great, since you tend to get low on trash when you start crafting scrap and compost. Though seeing it come back is frustrating, since you want the ocean floor to be clean.
