Don’t use a USB Hub, don’t use USB 3, update your drivers, change your power settings, enable generic controller support in Steam or your launcher of choice. Make sure your PC isn’t cutting power to the USB ports to save power, make sure your controller is properly enabled. I have an additional problem – there happen to be a ton of games that impose their own layouts on controllers, and I can't disable the impositions.
In theory, if there was a way to create fake or "dummy" controllers on the controller list in Joy.cpl, that would go a long way to alleviating this issue.

Hi Sir, I'm having a weird issue with the Amazon Luna controller and windows 10… I've downloaded the most up to date Luna Controller drivers already but sometimes the pc would acknowledge the controller for pc games (via Bluetooth) and sometimes it won't (it'd always works via usb cable though)… Also it does connect and works properly via Bluetooth for things like an emulator and controlling windows and stuffs but not for pc games such a Borderland 3 and so on…. Here is the weird thing, I'd noticed (by coincidence) while I had the control already connected to pc (with the above conditions) during a short power outage that lasted few seconds… when the computer rebooted again, then it did acknowledge the controller via Bluetooth on pc games… In other words after the pc lost power while control connected, when rebooting all of a sudden control worked properly this time with PC games… But if I turn pc on from scratch and then attempt to conect control, it would connect and work with emulators, but not on pc games again … So now I have to intentionally unplugged the pc while computer on and control connected (which is very unhealthy), and reboot it again, and only this way the control would work with pc games. So I have no idea what is going on. Please help

Hi dude, I followed all your steps. I'm still having a problem. I've bought what I think is a third party Xbox controller. I want to use it as a mouse on my Windows 10 machine. Please help, if you don't mind. I have DS4. The device is being detected as a DragonPad. I've used something called HIDReportInspector. Here is the output. when I try to load up a game like rocket league, my pc reads it as a keyboard and mouse, I use epic games and every tutorial I find is for steam. Even just in the main screen on my pc I can use my joystick + L2 and R2 buttons to click on games(PS4 controller). If you have had this problem and fixed it please help me out, Thanks.
i can connect my ps4 controller with my laptop but it won't let me using it in games instead it does thing on my laptop for example when i press ps home button and move left stick it turns up my volume but moving the stick normally doesn't do anything in game

okay posting for those who don't know. the windows feature that turns off the USB ports is VERY SHITTY.
heres how the story goes
launched game: controller plugged in, -> not registering. exited, verified integrity of game files (in steam), all ok.
checked device in Device Manager -> working properly
plugged out, plugged into same port -> still not registering
was too scared to mess with the windows feature to turn off the feature that shuts down usb ports, as my pc already has high power outtage and a small psu (600w)
plugged out and set to a DIFFERENT PORT -> all working fine.
Conclusion: if you have a good PSU and don't mind higher watt consumption IMMEDIATELY go to Device Manager – USB Ports and individually set them like at 4:25 !!!!!!!
Thanks so much! My Xbox controller generally works except for Diablo IV. It's detected but not working. Doing this via device manager and uninstalling my xbox controller > then reboot PC worked for me. Though I noticed that I have to do this every time before I play Diablo 4 or else it will not work.

Hey, I was hoping someone could help me fix my problem. My controllers (PS4 and one PS4 Scuf) get registered and i can use them in warzone 2 (I only play this game with controller). But the weird part is, that if I press my left stick to the right, my scoreboard pops up, when i press X, multiple things pop up and when i press my left button on the back of the scuf controller, windows kicks me out of the game and opens an keyboard on the screen. I know, this is pretty specific but i haven't been able to find a solution so far. I tried all the steps in this video, but nothing helps. ok, so I am using a Scuf Impact and my issue was initially the cord. The controller kept losing wired connection with even the slightest movement of my hand positioning. My original cord was a bit frayed on one end and slightly bent on the other which is why I assumed it was the cord. Now that I have a new micro usb cord, the controller maintains connection but the buttons don't act how they should. For example, in Minecraft, all the settings show that the controller should work as is. However, the x button pulls up the chat, left stick does nothing, right stick does move the camera, but no other button does what it should. In Diablo IV it does similarly. nothing does what it should and x always brings up chat and I have to end up using my keyboard to back out of it. I tested it on my laptop as well with both wired and bluetooth connections and it continues to run improperly. Is it possible that the "EMR" (electro magnetic remapping) feature on my Scuf is causing the issues?
