Construction of AUKUS submarines to create 10,000 jobs

The construction of nuclear-powered submarines and the industry surrounding it is set to create 10,000 jobs.

The construction and design process of the submarines between the US, UK and Australia looks set to blow out for the next 15-20 years.

The new AUKUS submarine class is set to provide a local construction aspect in South Australia.

  1. Bloody hell, in 10 -15 years the 'new' subs themselves will be redundant.
Lease or buy some subs from USA, UK etc, short term for sure.
But why wouldn't Australia move forward with 'defence shield' tech and A.I. as a priority ?

  2. A layman's opinion but I have no idea of what the overall fighting style we are trying to get to. Is it offensive ( subs way off in the distance ) is it defense ( tanks in the middle of Oz ) Is it counter strike(surveillance and rapid deployment). I know I am not military but it seems a mess like we buy what the salesman tells us. A 10, 000 job nuclear project to support just one platform. Australia has the sixth longest coastline in the world, at 59,736 kilometers (37,118 mi). The numbers don't add up for me.
