  1. Never played these games, but man. That was some epic corner cutting on the SNES version. Looks like the score might even be using a stock font instead of the custom one in the Genesis version. "Nah, it'll be fine" : The Game

  2. Where have all the cavemen gone? Long time passing… like a really long time passing.

Here's to Chuck Rock, Bonk, Joe & Mac, Big Nose, Caveman Sam, Ayla (Cavewoman representing), Tomba, and the named crew from Caveman Games. You won't be forgotten no matter the eon.

  3. I think you guys always miss an important thing which is controller lag/response time.

The only real problem with the SNES version is it doesn’t respond quickly enough.

Full disclosure, I’ve not played it on SNES. But I heard that was the case.

I looked at Ahh! Real Monsters again and I noticed it was true there too. The Genesis version didn’t have fog or as much colour, but in the comparison I watched, the player was flying through the game. It was clearly playing much more quickly and responsively on the Genesis.

Anyway. I was happy to see one of my favourite games given the treatment.

I’d suggest The Death and Return of Superman next. Because for balance, that game was designed for the SNES so you would imagine a win for the SNES there.

Apparently they actually used the Streets of Rage engine in the Genesis version. Pretty lazy.

  4. I remember seeing Chuck Rock as a kid, but it has never really been on my radar – now, I feel the need to give it a try… The Sega Genesis version, at any rate (sorry, Super Nintendo!)

It's also nice to see Dan's part-caveman heritage making a reappearance!

  5. Scorpion OWNs lolz. I still can't think of any other games from back then I haven't seen yet besides Namco's Weaponlord, and The Death and Return of Superman. I know Happy Birthday Dan has a Superman in the closet.

  6. Even though I never got to play "Chuck Rock" when I was a kid (or even as an adult, for that matter), I remember it being featured as one of the games being played in episodes of the Nickelodeon game show "Nick Arcade".

Oh, gosh, NO! It was NOT!!! >< I'm a SNES fanboy and probably the biggest Genesis hater in the whole universe, but the SNES version of Chuck Rock was PURE CRAP. Man, they didn't even get the jumping right, god dammit! The whole thing felt like a prototype.

  8. When I first started watching this series years ago, I thought material would run out before long. So glad it didn’t. Wonder if B.O.B. will ever find it’s way into the series.
