    Mistake:
    – The heavy cruiser Blücher wasn't deployed to Narvik, it was deployed to Oslo.

  2. the internet is truely going to destroy nationalism… imagine back 50 years ago, when someone out there educating the public of historical military strategies of all countries from the world… he/she will be crushed from all sides….let it be communists or capitalisms… none of them want their citizens to be smart enough to ask questions…

  3. Kings and Generals I respect you alot. But as an Historian you should not say illegal war. Your political opion doesn't matter. You had none with your sublime Ceasar, Alexander, medieval and many other episodes. Keep it real

  4. I am from Poland. People on West really dont imagine what German and then Russian occupation did to these lands. My grandparents stories are terryfing. German killed in Death Camp (Diesel engine chambers of dead, people werent concentrate there, they have been killed instantly after ariving, ukraine guards killed everyone who try to escape) for example for my small town 6000 population 4000 have been killed there 2000 jews, 2000 poles. Nowadats that Twon is maybe 5000 with all countrysides.

  5. Fun fact during the time the “blitzkrieg” was happening, there was a meth fueled, Big PP match between hitler, the tank general, and infantry general. The start of the war was basically all ran by meth.

  6. The Ark Royal was nearly sunk during the Hunt for the Bismarck, U-556 was sent to do recon on the situation before returning home and was low on fuel and out o f torpedoes from commerce raiding. The sub would have had a clean shot while the Ark Royal was preparing to receive and re-arm her planes

  7. What if hitler never started ww2 until he had nuclear power. Its not like many others were working on such a thing. That letter that Einstein sent to the president warning him of what they were doing helped I guess. Good thing Einstein wasn’t an evil genius.

  8. So Germany refined some pre-existing yet more recently developed tactics, overpowered their earliest opponents, and got lucky on the Western front. However, overall, Hitler was a rather poor Supreme Commander, which is why the Allies decided early on in the war not to try and assassinate him. Of course, many others still tried but failed.

  9. Tanks were used in Norway! Witnesses, films and photos show them. There's one picture of germans moving alongside a tank, using it as cover against potential ambushes. In one interview I watched, a british soldier recounts knocking out two panzers with a BOYS AT-rifle.

Further research tells me Panzer-abteilung 40, an armoured batallion, participated in the invasion, numbering around 48 Panzer 1 and 21 Panzer 2 tanks. (three Neubaufahrzeug tanks were also there for propaganda, but apparantly saw some combat, one even being knocket out by Norwegian engineers… I didn't even know these tanks existed lol).

  10. Blitzkrieg never existed in German doctrine, a term created to explain Germany and its rapid success especially in France in 1940. Germany practiced the same essential doctrine used in Ww1 called Vernichtungsgedanke ie battles of annihilation. The essence of blitz tactics were developed by Oskar Von Hutier against Russia then used by Ludendorff in his later western offensives. The troops trained in these infiltration tactics were called storm troops and bypassed front lines to disrupt C&C etc. They incorporated more combined arms in ww2 due to speed and radio advances. The Wehrmacht was still run by former arty officers primarily who held the panzer generals back especially in Russia. Guardian and others wanted to push further east but were ordered to cut off Soviets into pockets to conduct kesselschlact pee German doctrine

  11. Blitzkrieg was intended to work in a country the size of France; not the Soviet Union. However, the Soviet Union was deeply ravaged by Blitzkrieg. And likely would had collapsed if it would had been initiated much earlier prior to the invasion of Yugoslavia and Greece.

  12. Interestingly, the Germans utilized drugs to enhance their blitzkrieg tactics. But since the effect of such drugs were not fully understood at that time, they used it anyways and after the euphoria of the drug wore off you can probably guess the draining effects it had on German soldiers, physically and mentally. They even put them in dark chocolate as part of the rations they gave to their soldiers.

  13. great video, but there is one very small mstake. in actual fact the germans did use panzers during the invasion of norway as they sent the panzer-abteilung 40 tank battalion to norway during the invasion. but still great video!

  14. The Germans fell in love with Blitzkrieg, as their primary means of waging war. Which would prove to be their downfall in Russia. Russia is just TOO DAMN BIG for a sustained Blitzkrieg, that is designed to keep outrunning their supply lines, to sustain success. Once the Blitzkrieg finally ran out of steam, that is when Russia counter-struck. We all know what happened to the Germans afterward.

  15. In reality the German doctrine is called Bewegungskrieg. Tanks, planes and APC’s were just new tools for the Germans. When Germany stopped waging that kind of warfare in 1943 that’s when they started to lose. Kursk is a good example.
