You have been asking me to go to a trades show for a while so of course I ended up at a car industry expo. SEMA Show is a massive car industry and special equipment event that takes place at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Let’s talk ugly concept cars, utilizing space in a convention center, ride alongs, oh and booth babes because that practice is alive and well in the car industry.

note!!! I filmed this before the Las Vegas F1 GP obviously but we had to delay it’s release hence why it’s coming out post f1 race. I still think it was weird they didn’t have anything talking about the GP on site outside of the drivers being on the monorail.

  1. I’d love to see you go to the Oddities and Curiosities expo. I live about 6 hours from the nearest location they stop at, and I can’t find any videos or reviews about it. I know it’s huge, I just don’t know if it’s worth it.

  2. Can I recommend/ask you go to the Detroit Auto Show? May be too late because it is in January but I really haven’t heard anyone in Michigan talk about it since the late 00s and truly wonder what it is like these days.

  3. I think you should go to a rat rod show. Either it will be entertaining seeing you be really mad about people putting a clear coat over petina, or you'll learn to fall in love with them as I have.

It's about keeping the years of wear and all the stories it tells while not having to worry about it falling apart further, plus there is something magical about a car that looks like a junker but is actually really solid

  4. that is cool you got to go and be there for a long period of time. so many interesting builders etc that are there. I do see a lot of that end up in all the car culture pretty quickly. lookin fwd to seeing what you end up doing or wanting to do within the automotive realm beyond just going to a show or a race. maybe go down to a freedom factory event to see something completely different with racing. anyway keep up the fun vids and good luck on the home cheers.

  5. Yes I would go! I love cars, especially vintage ones and I was particularly interested in the electrification of the vintage cars and/or manufacture of vintage looking electric cars.
The preservation of the chipped, rusty body is definitely a thing. I'm sure they put a clear coat on it so it doesn't get worse and actually eat through the metal, but just retains that look.

  6. Honestly love the whole reimagening/making old cars as a concept. It's cool. But my favorite car, dream car even is a VW bus… and with that concept they made the horrific putrid VW Buzz…

  7. You should check out Barrett Jackson in January in Scottsdale Az if that’s not too soon in your calendar. It’s the US’s largest car auction and I believe it’s been going on for over 50 years. Walking through the tents is really cool seeing the cars and vendors, but actually sitting and watching the auction is a trip. I don’t know if you’ve seen anything like that before.

  8. A few years ago I nearly had the opportunity to go to SEMA for work to produce some livestreams but that ended up not happening. Wish I had been able to go. However, SEMA does have a day where the public can attend (Friday) but with very limited tickets. But the outside of the show where all the cars and trucks and vehicles people have built are parked is accessible to the public. The car scene and car community, especially the aftermarket parts community, have been extremely open to YouTubers and social media folks since they are a huge part of the success of a lot of companies that otherwise would have been relegated to that brand that made the polish or glass cleaner you parents had in their garage when you were a kid. YouTube/Social Media and motorsports have had to go hand in hand for the last 5 or so years with drivers, brands, shops all getting popular and getting more business/sponsors because of their audience sizes. Bit of a double edged sword in some cases, but on the whole it means they aren't turning people away that say they're YouTubers like they used to at events like CES or E3. Would be cool to see a video on the craziest builds or your favorite builds you saw at SEMA.

  9. There is GDC Game Developers Conference in San Francisco that is an industry show anyone can attend if they pay for it.

SEMA looks really fun, cool tech and one off cars definitely would be great.
