Concerns raised over readiness of Australia's defence force

Retired former Army General Peter Leahy has voiced his concerns about the readiness of Australia’s defence force.

“My concern is the time when we’ve been told that we’re facing the most dire geo-strategic circumstances in a long time and I would think that might occasion the fact we bolster our defences,” Mr Leahy told Sky News host Peta Credlin.

“We’ve got a submarine in the never, never … it’s a long way away,” he said.

“We’ve also got a delay in the decision on the nature of the Royal Australian Navy’s surface fleet.

“We’ve also seen money coming out of defence … it’s coming out of money that has already been allocated, it’s been put aside and it’s not doing anything right now.

“So I’m concerned about preparedness and readiness, I’m concerned about maintenance and sustainment, and I’m concerned about stock levels because if something does happen, well how ready are we?”

Mr Leahy went on to say that Australia’s defence needs to be more balanced and not just focused on the military.

  3. The reason we have no military, from the perspective of a fighting-aged male is that there is nothing to fight for. I’m expected to work myself to death to live in a studio apartment, get taxed to oblivion and question basic grocery purchases. I am over-taxes and overworked with no future. I will never be married, I will never have children and I will never own a home. Every opportunity I get to build a future, the government applies red tape to that pushes me back to square one. As far as I’m concerned I have 0 loyalty to this country and I’m a free agent. All China need to do is offer me an apartment and place in society and I’ll fight alongside them 🇨🇳

  4. yes we are nowhere near ready, lost most of our own independency in automotive industry, many many factories are closed as well, so we lose the tools to ramp up our own defense.
we are far weaker than in ww2.
and inside 2 years we be in a war, we need to use our money wisely.
stop selling minerals to bolster our enemy.
get our fuel made here at high levels, we have plenty of our own oil.
needed to be done 20 years ago

  5. Has anyone asked who the fuck the girl is in the red shirt? What background does she come from to be asking questions like that or making statements like that?

    Time to wake up australia.

The bitch is reading a script from the filthy leaders of our country banking off wars using false evidence appearing real (F.E.A.R) to tax the fuck out of us which is another form of sickness for our slavery.
