  1. I’m a Pentaholic from the beginning and that was the BEST MITCH SLAP EVER!! I cry almost every time myself. Disbelief, chills & an almost uncontrollable urge to see more, that is what Pentatonix does. Please join us in the rabbit hole 🙏🏼 I promise you won’t regret it. But you should have some tissues handy because you WILL cry and you WILL laugh until tears come. As you are probably realizing, we come in droves to watch and educate and enjoy watching someone new discover our Angels. We can’t experience that first time again so we watch others. It is most gratifying when someone reacts like you did. Also, GREETINGS FROM SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA!

  2. Thank you so much for sharing your reaction! I've been a PTX fan since their appearance on The Singoff in 2011 and I never tire of seeing their performances. I hope you will consider reacting to more of their videos (their catalog is immense). We Pentaholics will definitely follow your journey!!

  3. I can't tell you what to watch "next"; you've already decided that and most of my recommendations have already been made by others. What I will do is give you a suggestion of how to pick what to watch, and a list of things I think you should watch eventually, and why I think that.

First, the suggestion. PTX puts out a Christmas album every year. Some of the music on their Christmas albums isn't actually Christmas music ("Hallelujah," for example, is from a Christmas album), but even so, that's a lot of Christmas music. And most people get very tired of constant Christmas music in the malls from Halloween through New Year's. So, think of a Christmas song that you detest, because it's been done to death. Then do a YouTube search on the name of that song, but add "Pentatonix" to the search. If they've done a cover of it, it will show up. Listen to that cover, and then decide what you think of the song. It will likely be your new favorite.

So, videos you should put on your list to watch, sooner or later:
    * Pentatonix got their start on the 2011 season of The Sing-Off, which was a television music competition series specifically for a capella groups. It was a difficult show for them. Three of them were still teenagers (19, by the end of the season); Avi was 21 and Kevin was 22 by the end of the season. So, Babytonix. And with only 5 members in the band everyone had to be on top of their game for each performance; there was no one to cover for them if someone was sick, and both Kirstie and Scott got sick a time or two. And the show was grueling. They'd do their performance and be given their assignment for the next performance, after which they had all of a week to put it together.

All of those performances are available on YouTube, though not in a single playlist because some have been taken down for copyright violation (and someone is being capricious about that – why this one, but not that one, in the same playlist? But I digress). So, at some point I think you'll want to watch all those videos, in order, to see how the group grew. Be warned, some of them are cringe-worthy, but that's exactly how we grow. And when you do watch them, ask us! When we know, we'll tell you what was going on behind the scenes that was affecting their choices.

    * I strongly recommend Todrick Hall – The Wizard of Ahhhs (ft. Pentatonix): https://youtu.be/QkVeKb2igrg Be warned, however. If you've never seen The Wizard of Oz, starring Judy Garland, it won't make sense, so take care of that first. (Besides, it's a wonderful movie and everyone should see it some time.) This one is nearly 7 minutes long, so set aside enough time for it. Also, it isn't owned by Pentatonix's record label; it's owned by Todrick Hall and he seems to be more interested in publicity than in stomping on reactors, so less likelihood of copyright problems.

Todrick posted this when Kirstie was just 2 months past her 21st birthday. At that time she still thought of Pentatonix as "The Mitch Grassi Band and Support Group" (or something like that); she hadn't yet realized what a formidable talent she possesses. And yet, at Todrick's request she agreed to step out of her comfort zone to star in this video. She was in virtually every scene. When she wasn't playing Dorothy she was playing either Glinda the Good Witch or The Wicked Witch of the West Side. And she aced it. This was when Kirstie began to come into her own.

    * You may also want to check out Superfruit. Superfruit is a separate YouTube channel that Mitch and Scott started where they went to just goof off and have fun. It's been pretty much inactive since 2018, because life gets in the way sometimes, but it's still there and it has some hilarious stuff on it. With all Superfruit videos, stick around after the apparent end of the video for the bloopers reel. Specific Superfruit videos to look for include their Frozen medley and "GUY.EXE" (be aware going in that Mitch and Scott are both gay; it will make more sense).

  4. why only now? Pantatonix already sang the song some time ago …

but yes. no matter why you all jump on this song now – it's great, especially in this version.

But they still have many other good songs …by the way also the Imagin Dragons cover with Linsey Sterling

  5. Amazing Grace and The Prayer are the two songs that I feel improve on this in terms of arrangement and vocal performance. Hallelujah laid the groundwork for those two songs IMO. Also, their version of Bohemian Rhapsody is Brian May approved (he tweeted the link to his followers even), Imagine has a very powerful video to go with the vocals, and The Sound of Silence shows off the vocals of their current bass vocalist Matt Sallee. For their medleys, which they are amazing at: Daft Punk (they won a Grammy for this one) which features Avi their former bass vocalist, and 90s Dance Medley which has Matt as the bassist. For an underrated gem that doesn't get enough love or reactions to it, check out Come Along.

And since Christmas is right around the corner, they have a wealth of Christmas music including a new album that just came out two weeks ago. For Christmas songs: Mary Did You Know, Silent Night, Carol of the Bells, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies, and You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch which has Matt on vocals doing Thurl Ravenscroft proud. I'm sure you'll get plenty more recc's though because they have a LOT of music out there.

  7. This performance touches something deep within your soul. If you haven’t already, you must watch their video of Amazing Grace (my chains are gone). It’s another phenomenal one.

  8. My other favorite PTX video is Bohemian Rhapsody, and I also love their Radioactive featuring guest Lindsey Sterling. Sound of Silence is another fave, and their Daft Punk Medley is a blast. But I don't think you can go wrong with any of their stuff.
