It seems like 2024 is the year of the compensator… and we have two of the best compact compensated pistols to compare, and thats the Shadow Systems MR920P and the Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0 Carry Comp Compact.

Topped with the Vortex Defender ST red dot, both pistols offer a compact carry sized with a significantly less recoil felt from their great compensators. Both the MR920P and the M&P Carry Comp Compact offer industry leading slide serrations, half way decent triggers, and nice sights. The MR920P wins in the cowitness game, as the M&P does not co witness with this Vortex Defender Red Dot.

Both of these pistols have been or will be reviewed independently where you can see the full details on each….but the big question is Which One Would You Choose?

  1. FYI. Smith and Wesson will tell you themselves it's not a slide release, it's a slide stop. One more thing for anyone wanting to mount a dot onto the Smith, mine has a Holosun SCS mounted directly to the slide, takes up the entire mount space and low enough to cowitness perfectly… Great video

  2. Big issue i had with the smith is yes you can put a magwell on but then you will need aftermarket baseplates for every one of your magazines due to the design of the magazines and grip of the smith. The fact i can still use my $13 pmags with my SS with the magwell and dont have to spend $100+ on a magwell, then $30+ for a smith mag, and then another $30+ for an aftermarket base plate is a huge draw for me. I like to have at least 8 magazines for every gun in my rotation that i plan to shoot competitively and thats just too expensive to do with smith if youre running a magwell.
Dont get me wrong, the smith might actually be the better firearm but the magwell issue is a pill i cant swallow. And i love my mr920p

  3. There is no true comparison between these two.Shadow Systems is a Glock-for all intents and purposes.Glock is what S&W COPIED to build all their striker fired weapons.SS all day, every day.I had 3 S&W’s over the years-a 39,659 and 5906-all had terrible triggers and a multitude of failures. For a carry gun-which has to be 100% reliable,I choose Glock or I’d trust a Shadow Systems MR920 any day over a Smith.

  4. MSRP on the M&P Metal Carry comp is $999 not $750. I still want it and no longer plan to get an XR920P to replace my non comp XR… I watch your channel and known how much you love the shadow system pistols so this was a pleasant surprise to see you pick the M&P…

  5. Always love your unbiased comparison vids bro. A lot of people only talking about the metal version of the m&p. Glad u brought out the polymer which is cheaper and seems to do just as good as a job than the metal but not as pretty 😅 lol

  6. Not to sound like paid smith & Wesson employee but in their defense their m&p line often comes notoriously stiff from the factory. Things like safeties, magazines, triggers, and slide releases sometimes feel borderline excessively stiff but they all break in nicely with some use.
I have owned multiple new m&p’s that had a similar problem when trying to use the slide release but they have always become nice and functional after a little time at the range. Just my two cents!

Appreciate the comparison man. Big fan of both of these handguns and companies.

  7. My performance center M&P shield slide release got better over time, but nothing like my competitor. I’ve trained around it. I’m waiting on a compliant version of the comp carry and am now wondering if the competitor release can be used on it?

  8. False comparison. The S & W Compact is a quality made original design, Shadow Systems are Glock clones & they are not the best Glock clones on the market as they have unaddressed reliability issues which negate the impressive features they are fitted with, which super reliable Glocks lack. IMO the best Glock clones on the market are those made by Bul Armory. I would never choose any Shadow System Glock clone over any over original design pistol by S&W, Sig Sauer, Beretta, Springfield or any other quality pistol maker.

  9. So is the M&P 2.0 metal comp a better firearm than the XR920P. I’m asking because I just got the XR920P but had thoughts about grabbing the M&P before hand. Just asking if I made the better choice?
