    Not gonna lie though, I was legit waiting for CV-12 Hornet to say "Ko Ko Dai Yo" like a Certain girl from ArKnights. And considering how many times she Says "Nya", the Cat Ears on her Beach Skin kinda fits though!

    Hornet (CV-12) served very well in the Second World War. She was At the "Marianas Turkey Shoot", The Philippines Campaign, the Carrier Air Raids on Formosa (Now Taiwan), the Battle of Samar, The Battle of Mindoro, The South China Sea Raid, The Volcano and Ryukyu Islands Campaign and even Took part in the Sinking of the Battleship Yamato. She and Bennington (CV-20) had been Badly Damaged when Halsey Ordered Task Force 38 to go straight through Typhoon Cobra on June 5, 1945 with Hornet's Bow having 25 Feet of her Forward Flight deck collapse after having a Massive Wave come crashing down onto her. She and Bennington would later be ordered to steam BACKWARDS into the Wind at 18 Knots after one of Hornet's Marine Corps F4U-1D Corsair Fighter-Bombers almost Cartwheeled into the Water when Taking Off to provide CAP (Combat Air Patrol) on June 7th. Bennington was Detached for Repairs the next day and Hornet participated in the Attacks on Kanoya Airfield. On April 9th, Hornet and the other Carriers with her would Soon Demonstrate the Effectiveness of Napalm Bombs on the Coastal Defences of Okidaitōjima, Southeast of Okinawa. The Following day her Aircraft Spotted for Three Battleships as they Bombarded Minamidaitōjima. After her Fleet had arrived at Leyte on June 13th, Hornet was Ordered Home for Repairs, arriving at San Francisco on July 7th. She would Receive 7 Battle Stars and a Presidential Unit Citation for her Service in the War. Repairs and her Refit would be Completed on September 13th and Hornet would participate in "Operation Magic Carpet" ferrying Troops back to the U.S. from the Marianas and Hawaiian Islands, arriving at San Francisco on February 9th, 1946. She was Decommissioned on January 15th,1947 and Sent to the Pacific Reserve Fleet.

    In 1951, Hornet would be Briefly Recommissioned and then Decommissioned to be Rebuilt into the Attack Aircraft Carrier (CVA-12) under the SCB-27A Program. When Wasp (CV-18) badly Damaged her Bow in a Nighttime Collision that Cost an Entire Gleaves-class Destroyer on April 26th, 1952, Hornet's Bow was Cut off to Repair Wasp. On September 11th, 1953, Hornet was Recommissioned as CVA-12. She Trained in the Caribbean Sea and then left Norfolk on May 11th,1954 on an 8 Month Global Cruise. She would Participate in the Search for a Cathay Pacific Airways Passengerliner that was Shot down by Chinese Aircraft by Hainan Island while with the 7th Fleet. On July 25th, she would support her Baby Sister the Philippine Sea (CV-47) as they shot down 2 Attacking Chinese Fighters. On May 4th, 1955 She would help Cover the Evacuation of the Vietnamese from Communist-controlled North to South Vietnam, then ranged from Japan to Formosa, Okinawa, and the Philippines in readiness Training with the 7th Fleet. She would return to San Diego on December 10th and Enter Puget Sound Naval Shipyard the following month to receive her SCB-125 Upgrade.

    She has a lot more to her Service History after being upgraded to an Anti-Submarine Carrier, Mainly being Deployed to Vietnam as a Combat Search and Rescue carrier with her Douglas A-4E Skyhawks occasionally Attacking Ground Targets and picking up Apollo 11's Command Module Columbia on July 24th, 1969 and Apollo 12 on November 24th. She would be Decommissioned on June 26th,1970 and Sent to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility. She was Stricken from the Naval Vessel Register on July 25th, 1989. In 1991 she was Made a Historic Landmark. Hornet was Donated to the Aircraft Carrier Hornet Foundation on May 26th, 1998 and opened to the Public on October 17th, 1998 as the USS Hornet Museum in Alameda, California. She was Designated a California State Historic Landmark in 1999 and Listed in the National Register of Historic Places #91002065.
