  1. The Church is truly a 'small world' (for the individuals) as well as a global 'sprinkling of salt'! So many connections to my family, my life, just in part 1 of this episode! 🥰 Thank you All! And I hope Michael gets his kidney, that donor is incredible 💛

  2. I love Michael McLean! As he started to sing "Tender Mercies" my heart swelled ands tears began to well up in my eyes as I thought if he didn't get a kidney… but then the tender mercy of peace as the thought came…"if his work here is done, he is needed on the other side"…I can't be selfish but I can hope. Then as he finished the song the words brought peace to my heart again. He is a precious friend. I'm glad that you invited him to share his thoughts and talents this week! 💜🙏💜

  4. The mercies of God. And Hold on the Light Will Come, is one of my favorites of Michael's. I have listened to Michael since the 80's and have some great memories of his music. Also the album he did his own singing touches us more than the professional singers. It's the spirit and personal testimony that comes from hearing his voice relay the message in the song that is so heartfelt. Love that Ukraine is getting hope through his music.

  5. Thank you Hank and John and Michael. You all have made and are making a difference for me. Michael, thank you for the music, especially the Safe Harbors album, which is part of my musical first aid kit. Music is how I "Hear Him," and yours has delivered so many messages. I love this podcast so much!

  6. You made a difference in my life when working on forgiveness for a husband that just me. Sitting in the driveup window at work one day I heard, "There's so much of life that can't be lived when you're holding on to hurt and anger, let it go." I played it over and over. It really helped me.

  7. I’m weeping. Michael’s ah-ha moment of Jesus on the cross singing a psalm His mother taught Him.
    I never thought of that.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. And thanks to John and Hank for allowing Michael to say and sing come what may.
Praying Michael will have a successful kidney transplant soon. We need several more decades of his beautiful lyrics and melodies. 🎶❤️

  8. Yes! I love that we get to create our own melodies that speak to us. To help my kids learn one verse of Proverbs I quickly created a simple melody which they all quickly learned. My son, who wants to sing but refuses to (🤷‍♀) finally sang with us. He was so proud to show his dad that when we sang it again today he sang so loudly and well. He was positively beaming and radiating joy as he sang a song whose melody spoke to him.

  9. I had never thought about Jesus quoting the Psalm to Mary to let her know everything was going to be ok. This idea fills my heart with peace. Of course He would be looking out for his mother. Of course he would say something that she would understand! Beautiful!❤️

  10. John you attended as a special guest my youth conference, I won't give my age, and we never actually met as there where probably over 100 youth there, but I still remember the most powerful testimony meeting I think I ever have been a part of. Thanks Roger from ogden utah

  11. Could I please get a link to Hold On, the Light Will Come in Ukrainian? I have some dear friends there spending their lives driving to active bombing areas to get people out and to their refugee camp farther from the fighting. They could really use this song, not only for themselves but, knowing them, something they will use to help comfort those they are serving that have lost everything.

  12. This is really enjoyable conversation. As always I am enjoying yet another podcast connected to the come follow me curriculum. However I think it is Psalm 22 that is being referenced to your, so eloquently spoken about by Dr Hopkins

  13. From a young Cantor and Rabbi, from a long of Rabbis in his family.
In answer to my question "how long is the history of Psalms in the Synagogue? Close to 2000 years in synagogues, but truthfully even more, because in the times when the temple stood in Jerusalem during many of the services the priests and levites would recite various psalms.

Also Each day of the week had its own song for example on Sunday they would sing psalm 24
On monday psalm 48 on Tuesday psalm 82 wednsday psalm 94 Thursday 81 Friday 93, and Saturday Psalm 92.

  14. Twenty five years ago I was working two full time jobs, for three years. My five children ranged from 2 to 12. I would cry on the way to work, then function. During that very dark time, Michael's song were the glue for my soul. Thank you.

  15. Years ago, Michael, you came to BYU-I for Mothers Week. I sat with my younger son as you sang "Hold On…" and wept as my son hugged me, and his older brother was in Iraq. Today, I listened as you talked about that song in Ukraine, and remembered the peace it brought me, and felt again that peace as another of my children is making choices that can only bring ultimate sorrow….Thank you….it was meant for me…today

  16. Michael, please do a production of “Celebrating the Light”. It brought life back to me after the sudden loss of my father. I saw it several times and bought the tape. I had a 7 year old son who begged me to take him to see it. The age limit was 8 (and I couldn’t break the rules)so I promised I’d take him the next year….and it didn’t come back. He’s 36 and still reminds me that I never fulfilled my promise. Please help me fulfill my 7 year old son’s greatest wish.😀. Thank you for sharing your beautiful talents with us. May God bless you and yours.
