  1. One of the most bizarre and infamous cases out there. The interrogation is a fascinating watch, too. You know criminal is especially horrible when breaking in and stealing panties was the least heinous thing he did.

  2. Assuming from the start this was a heist type episode based on the title, and then hearing "they thought he was just a nuisance and not an actual danger," and that you know how the story turns out and that is wrong, I was like "I don't know how it turns out and I know that is wrong." He's stealing things of an adult nature, making it a sexually motivated crime, which if it escalates (e.g. if someone is home when he shows up and sees him) is going to go horrible places. Stealing kitchen towels or office supplies is a nuisance, this is not.

  3. I was at training at CFB Trenton when he was arrested. I had left to get Starbucks and when I got back the place went in to a major lockdown.

Once I got back in it was strongly advised we not leave for a few days.

  4. The police ABSOLUTELY screwed up by not taking the "Fetish Burglarer" seriously. That kind of burglary is classic escalation behavior for a budding sexual psychopath. We've known that since the 1980s. The fact that he was starting to taunt the victims clearly showed a tendency towards escalation.

  5. I listen to about 3-4 of these a day while working, and I can say this.

While this is my first introduction to a true crime podcast, I've quite enjoyed my experiences in the details that make up the cases and how these monsters are brought to justice. The reading is great and easy to listen to.

That being said, the few places that are hard to listen are the tangents that don't have much to do with the story (back tracking through countries, vacations to these states, etc). These are fine every now and then, but some of the videos get rough when not even 2 sentences can go by without stopping for another story lmao 😂

That and when you, or anyone for that matter, brings up your faith and lack there of and implies your belief of there being no God. Which to each their own, but still find it amusing thay Godless people still take the lords name in vain in their cussing lol

That and a single other comment made in the werewolf video about how drugs are fine, that LSD never hurt anyone….. 😮

But hey, 9/10 show and only sometimes a 8/10 show.

    Keep up the good work!

  6. Nah, the OPP kind of botched this one, despite catching Russell Williams in the end. Many serial killers, serial rapists and other sexually motivated criminals start their "career" as fetish thieves/burglars. If somebody enters homes and steals ordinary objects of less value, they might be just a "nuisance", but if somebody enters homes and steals intimate objects like sex toys or lingerie, that's a BIG RED FLAG and the OPP should have known that. Later on, they did a good job, but they could have prevented the murders.

  7. Jim Smyth is worldwide famous for how he broke down the monster RW. That interrogation is pure brilliance and tought out on FBI and to all who are going to be detectives. Jim Smythe is a master interrogator. 🌟sorry for misspelling, I’m not english speaking😊just a swede who admire the master detective Smyth.

  8. I saw Col Williams modelling underwear photos a few years back, the murders were shocking and I also felt sorry for the women who survived too as they must recognise the clothing as theirs, how does anyone get over that? Also, the police should always take all these cases seriously because todays flasher, peeping Tom, stalker and burgular often turns into something more sinister.

  9. How is a man breaking into a woman's home to steal items of a sexualized nature just a 'nuisance?` Clearly this is a person who is a danger to women who will likely escalate once mere theft becomes stale. I stopped the video to comment as soon as Simon said that. If those cops thought it was funny, they were all ignorant fools.

  10. In Canada, first-degree murder carries a mandatory 25-year sentence before parole eligibility. However, murderers such as Williams and Paul Bernardo, who received the same sentence for his rapes and murders, will not be released by the parole board, ever. For one thing, the public outrage would be immense and probably lead to threats against parole board members. But one hopes parole boards, being citizens themselves, feel the same sense of outrage at the idea…

  11. Simon kind of glossed over it, but the military actually burned his uniforms- but it was a group of officers and peers who did it, and apparently the same group physically destroyed (I believe with hammers) his medals. There is apparently some kind of ceremony for this. It's like he's abolished from the military, not just "dead" to them. It's highly symbolic how they did it.

  12. 10:16 I'm sorry but I strongly disagree. What Simon describes as "a weird dude who goes into people's houses and steals items of little value," is to me a sexually motivated criminal who has already proven that A) they were more than willing to enter multiple people's homes and access their most intimate belongings and B) reveled in the idea that their victim would find out and be deeply and lastingly emotionally affected by it. They're a proven sadistic psychopath only one or two steps removed from premeditated murder, as opposed to some silly prankster or as Simon puts it, "kind of a nuisance."

It's also partly why none of this is amusing to me, even in the very slightest. The other part is probably my more open-minded than average attitude to sexuality and the use of toys – most people have some and use them regularly, either alone or together. Someone going "my sex toys have been stolen" wouldn't make me go "teehee you had sex toys" it'd be "omg that's messed up are you okay let's immediately call the cops" (even though the cops statistically would severely underestimate he situation).

  13. 10:23 – "items of little value"?? A decent vibrator can set you back at LEAST $40 on SALE, and a "special occasion" bra and panties matching set will easily break $100, even at discount.

It is EXPENSIVE to be a woman, and the fact that cishet men continue to diminish and deny that fact is infuriating, no matter their good intentions.
