Yeah I dont undrestand why so many people expected Starfield to be something mind-blowingly new and fantastic. It is a solid game, so far, but it is exactly what it was supposed to be – a Bethesda game.
I feel that some people had unrealistic expectations for Starfield. Several times, BGS devs said that Starfield is a "Bethesda game through and through." Which is exactly what it is. If somebody thought it was going to be anything other than a Bethesda-style game, then that's their fault for not paying attention.
What was the most disappointing game at release as far as expectations to reality. starfield or cyberpunk?
Yep, this is a bethesda game through and trough…😅
Expected this to be better than Outer Worlds. Its not.
That 'Cohh, sit down' could not have been more perfectly timed lol!
I so Mass Effect at enteriors 🙂 and yes Deus EX
Bg3 is in my top 3 games of all time now. I will still enjoy Starfield for what it is and I'll put in hundreds of hours in it with mods, never actually finishing the story like I did for all Bethesda games so far 💪
So far Starfield looks like fallout/skyrim crossed with No Mans Sky. Thats what I kinda was hoping for tbh.
This game reminds me of what mass effect andromeda was actually going for.
I didn't watch anything on this game, I was really hoping it was at least fallout 4, if it was fallout 4 then I was going to enjoy 1500 hours of exploring and building… Ive been playing 20 or so hours now… it seems to be fallout 4 and more, so I'm ecstatic!
Some of the hate also stems from the fact the game isn't on PS5 (correction: most, of the hate. Which is sad! They even have a review bombing planned…)
9:45 Absolute facts here Cohh. Thanks for being so honest. People decided what THEY wanted this game to be, ran with it, and then expected Bethesda to provide exactly what they wanted. Bethesda absolutely delivered here on what they said, and I'm super happy with my experience in the game. Yes it has flaws, but part of the charm is it's flaws as is with all BGS games.
You don't really need to use the word "arguably" when it is your own personal opinion. When saying that word, it means that someone can argue against it – in this case, no one can really argue against your own personal likes and dislikes.
my main issue with the game is it seems like a loadiong and menu simulator with combat from time to time.
Cohh, that's exactly why people are angry at Bethesda and their games. They have their own standard. Industry standard be damned, if Bethesda can push out the millionth iteration of the same game, slightly less buggy, out the door they are praised. They are the special needs child of the gaming industry. They need that GOTY, or they are going to throw a temper tantrum in a public place, so everyone, be kind and patient to them, and hold them to another standard, you know they can't be held to the same standard as the neighbor kid.
Yes their games can be fun, and even great(if modded to hell). But they launch a new big game every 3-8 years, so they have time. They got huge teams working on these games, so they have manpower. And they have creative freedom being their own publishers, so no meddling from the outside. Yet, their games always come out broken, with a giant amount of bugs, even for the quantity of the content. Because they are special…
Their writing is always subpar for the most part. Sometimes someone tries something cool, but it's a drop in an ocean for most part.
Their characters are forgettable, and i can't really think of a well written character from a Bethesda game from their last 4 or 5 games.
Their games always look bad for the time, and looking at Starfield, if someone said it came out in 2015, i wouldn't be shocked. Yet their games always run like crap on middle range PCs, and are very poorly optimised. And don't get me started on the animations…
Their gameplay is always barely scratching fine. It's a big loot fest, not much else, it's what drives it forward, because it has nothing else to do so. The combat is always lifeless and weightless. The RPG mechanics have been slowly stripped away since Morrowind, there's barely anything there.
UI is very pretty and absolutely usless.
And worst of all, they barely ever try anything new. And no, Fallout in space is nothing new. They made a new IP, and people thought; "Finally Bethesda is not going to make the same game again, it's not Fallout or Elder Scrolls". Turns out they made Fallout again. That's why people are angry. And because some people(like Cohh) don't hold them to the same standard as they do other develorers, they keep getting away with it. And that makes people even angrier.
having recently watched your Persona 5 playthrough, seeing your son not be a baby threw me
Ms. Kaminski is just trying to get the high ground for the coming fight.
To be fair to older Bethesda games; they used to be better / more interesting with more engaging systems, characters and quests. A Morrowind, Oblivion or Skyrim with StarField quality graphics would all be superior games to this. I think people forget how interesting those older Bethesda games were.
Fallout 1 and 2 were not made by Bethesda and they were incredibly well written and had really interesting concepts (that were never surpassed or matched in future Fallout games); imagine a Fallout 1 / 2 quality game with the scope of Starfield. That's what is so disappointing about Bethesda; they could improve their writing, system design, level design but it just seems to be slowly sliding backwards in terms of quality (despite graphical fidelity improvements and increased scope).
I know some people complain about it, but I absolutely love when Cohh takes his time with these games and goes slow taking it all in. There's so much depth to bethesda games that a lot of people glance over, but when you take things slower, you really come to appreciate it all.
I think people wasn’t expecting the same interface and format like Fallout. It appears it’s the same engine but updated graphics. People wanted a new experience and they got a reskin with the feel of Fallout.
So far I'm liking the combat about 1k times more then fallout style. even on your difficulty the starting guns still packed somewhat of a punch which is already better then how fallout 4's fully upgraded guns felt lol, plus I personally prefer a mix between new tech and modern look and this game so far touches on both without going overboard like cyberpunk (which I know was the entire point of cyberpunk and I still loved that game to, until this years updates) anyway looks like a solid Bethesda game (excluding failure on release titles) an I can't wait to play tomorrow
Cohh: finds a shotgun
Me: hell yeah brotha
Bro anyone wondering why people bash this game should just look at the glitches in this run alone, come on, the robot glitching out, people walking into walls, this lady just straight up walked upon her desk, like that's pretty immersion breaking…
I know they are minor things but they really really hurt the immersion.
9:44 –11:45 I enjoyed this monologue. Starfield is a slight improvement from Fallout 4, and it doesn't need to be more than that because we're having fun with it.
