  1. One last time, I'm going to gripe about the Jump Pack Canoness NOT being able to take an inferno pistol; I really liked the discount Dante getting to just land where you need the punch, and using it, but apart from that whine, I'm thrilled to see Sisters looking like they will be in a great place!

I've been a Sisters of Battle fan since the (4e?) days of Codex: Daemonhunters, feared for them, as they languished in obscurity…and metal, and was totally psyched when they got their big range refresh, and I've always wanted them to do well, so to see them stacking up to be great, especially since the Imperium hasn't exactly lit the sky on fire with several other of their codices, makes me very excited. If they can make Guard and Grey Knights codices great, eventually, and fold Deathwatch into an Agents option, so other armies can take a team, or two, of them, maybe with an Inquisitor, I'll get most of what I want out of the Imperium, this edition!

  2. Splitting BSS squads with immolators is a lot less valuable now because only one of the split units can carry the Simulacrum and splitting the squad makes it easier to kill the smaller squad and eliminate the dice generation altogether. Sticky objectives is always nice to have though.
That being said, the codex overall looks fantastic. Can't wait to use it.

  3. The Bringers of Flame detachment has a nasty looking combo.
Retributors with four heavy flamers mounted in an Immolator with a canoness equipped with a brazier of holy fire, a sergeant with a combi-flamer and the enhancement that gives +1A to torrent weapons. Yes, I'd like to deal 6D6+6 (average 27) S6 or 7 assault flamer hits to that unit please. Oh, did I mention my free strategem that makes them AP -2 and, obviously, ignore cover? Also the Immolator makes them all twin-linked as well. Massive overwatch threat there too.

  5. The Exorcists remain, in my opinion, an "all-in" option. If you're going to take any you take three and they are the core part of your game plan.
They are very expensive and vicious especially at -3 AP and they are going to do the bulk of the heavy lifting and since their attacks are variable you want to roll as many dice towards their attack characteristic as possible to normalize the results. Bringers of flame is probably their best detachment giving them assault and +1S which will rarely be of use but the other detachments don't do much for them either though any detachment other than the penitent host is justifiable for running the Exorcist plan.

Nice buff to the anti-infantry rockets but I'd still take only one of three Exorcists with it AT MOST.

  6. It's worth noting that the loss of crusaders and death cult means a loss of general points efficiency for the army, so /some/ amount of buffs would likely be required to keep their current winrate. But this just looks like such a broad buff for the Sisters, I still agree they'll likely need a few points hikes to compensate.

  7. Having Sisters not be ridiculously expensive would be nice (IE point increases) I'm all for stronger but pricier sisters. We're supposed to be the best of the best when it comes to mortals.

  8. There’s something hilarious with the idea that a squad of seraphim with handflamers has the potential to literally melt a knight in one turn using cleansing flame. Extraordinarily unlikely. But still possible.

  9. I wonder if you can use "Devout Fanaticism" on an overwatch. Like, I move, they target my unit to be shot and I move closer again. Makes a good charge distance, it also will more likely stop people from overwatching your units

  10. Can't wait to play against them! Rather have 4 decent detachments rather than 8 terrible lol.

I've actually created a full terrain set for sisters. An Imperial city with sisters and marines statues and relics everywhere. thought it was cool idea for a terrain set. Still a while off completion tho…

  11. Honestly I think just removing the points section would reduce the criticism from codexes significantly. Or turn it into short explanation of points and where to get the points from GW.

  12. As a sisters player that dropped them in tenth because I disliked Martyred Lady, I'm very excited to pick them back up having absorbed these changes. I'm a penitent enjoyer and a fire/flame enjoyer so both of those detachments are gonna see some action from me.

  13. Happy they made novitiates have more reason to be played, sad that the other model no one played, the Dogmata, is still saddled with meh/boring abilities that give you 0 reason to use her over the 20 other character choices in the army.

  14. This makes me glad I switched gears to Sisters for the moment instead of finishing my Space Wolves. I love the Sisters aesthetic and having what seems like a good and fun codex is really nice for my first attempt at a 40K army. 😁

  15. Looks like Sisters got team A for the codex writing. Team A being actual writers, Team B being the intern of the interns of the writing team. Any male Sisters of Battle that were 'always there' by any chance?

  16. I really wish they would get this free strat issue figured out, how some codex detachments have 4+ "free" ones and others only have 1 (or less…) is just ridiculous.

  17. I feel that the Codices for my two armies, Sisters and Tau, are very similar in structure: 4 detachments, 3 of them quite general, one for more focused units. Out of the 3 general ones, one benefits raw shooting.
I am very happy with both of them, so far. I prefer to have fewer detachment, but all of them useful.
