Cockpit Casual – INDIA (the Double-Repo)

On this episode of Cockpit Casual, Steve & Bob head to Hyderabad India to grab two Airbus A320 NEOs from the now-defunct airline, “Go First”. The project took place in early January of 2023 and these were actually the first two aircraft pulled by lessors prior to the airline ceasing operations. In other words, these aircraft would “go first”!

The duo from Nomadic flew from Philly to Doha on Qatar Airlines, then on to Hyderabad where they did some sightseeing around Charminar with the go-pros. The next day, Steve took left seat in the first aircraft and flew it to Istanbul via Cairo. After arriving in Turkey, they overnighted and the next day went right back to Hyderabad to grab the second aircraft.

The project took the better part of a week, and was a non-stop, action packed adventure from the start. As usual, the episode features original Jazz from Steve Giordano Sr and lots of great footage from the Cockpit and around the world.

  2. Hey guys! I have a question. I know Indigo operates Airbus 320s from Delhi, India to Istanbul, Turkey without a fuel stop. Why did you have to make a fuel stop? I understand the headwind part, but empty airbus with full fuel, can’t it make it to IST in one leg?

  3. My first time watching your channel. Pretty fascinating way to be doing a lot of piloting. I was impressed to see the Cisco Brewers T-shirt from Nantucket. My old stomping grounds. Great choice of music along with the GoPro set up in the cockpit. Looking forward to following your future endeavors.

  4. Iya. Saya ingat semuanya. 😂

  7. I made my first ever trip to India this past winter, staying a week in Mysore. Your comment about the insane traffic, air pollution and people everywhere, but some how falling in love with the place absolutely rang true with me.

  8. Always look forward to these videos. No matter how bad my day was or whether demons decide stop by to haunt me daily, this entire series puts a smile on my face. The planning and strategy that the pilots execute with great camaraderie are a joy to watch. It always seems that these flights complete successfully, despite any challenges that may head their way.

Obviously, I'm looking forward to the next episode – safe travels, guys. And thanks!

  9. This was so cool to watch! As a private pilot (just purely for fun) I always thought commercial would be boring but this looks like you guys are having a ton of fun! I bet there is a lot of paperwork behind this but the flying and adventure looks so cool

  11. Hey Steve, I love your vidoes. With that said, I have a question. As someone who has multiple type ratings, how do you stay proficient in all of them? Do you have company SOPs for each type like the airlines? Do you memorize flows for all of them or rely on checklsits more? Thanks.

  12. As a pilot on the Embraer for KLM we do some long(ish) days up to 11 hours / 4 legs a day and sometimes when I feel like complaining about another delay and long working day I think about you guys and know not to complain because goddamn you guys are next level! Thanks for making these videos, so great to see another side of our aviation world but I wouldn’t want to trade with you haha! You guys seem to enjoy it and congrats to making the business and the YouTube channel such a succes. Cheers from a colleague at another crew hotel somewhere in Europe!
