Coastin' Thru Europe Episode 29: LA RONDE

In a surprise conclusion to our epic summer trip, we visited La Ronde on a layover back from Paris. This is a park Taylor had absolutely zero plans to go back to, but since Sarah had never been, we decided to make the stop! We also happened to go on one of the busiest nights of the year when the park put on an epic fireworks display to end out the evening!

We made a movie! This is How We Roll is a feature length documentary about the history of Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC). For more information and to get yourself a copy, please visit vimeo.com/ondemand/thisishowwerollmovie

  1. Thanks for telling people to visit the actual countries these parks are located in. So many coaster people focus on the credits, choosing to find some mall-based, crappy kiddie coaster instead of checking out some amazing centuries-old thing.

  2. You put out something like 15 hours of content in this series which I can only imagine took days worth of hours to edit.

That’s like two whole seasons of How I Met Your Mother.

After the RMC doc and then this series, I’m
stoked for whatever is next. Rock on 🤘

  3. The fireworks show probably accounts for most of their yearly budget haha. They’re in the board meeting like “Ok, so do we put our money towards news rides, better overall guest experience, etc. or Fireworks?”

And then everyone is like “MORE FIREWORKS!!!”

  4. These firework shows usually last around 30 minutes, and it's not just for Laronde to watch. The entire city would literally gather around the shores and cover the entire bridge next to it. You can even hear the fireworks blasts from the center of the city

  5. When we got done with out Alaskan Cruise we had a similar thing happen but our lay over was having to stay in Vancouver B.C. for two & a half days to finally get a flight home last June.

  6. If you guys are open to it, I would love to know a price/budget breakdown with how y’all we’re able to pull this off! Was the trip mostly funded by the channel’s revenue?

  7. The firework show looked spectacular… glad you guys decided to go. Thanks for this series. I’ve had a really difficult past few months and this has really kept me sane and happy. You guys are a joy to watch. I love this style of vlogging the parks and all of the travel stuff! Fantastic work. Can’t wait to see what’s to come from you guys. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! 🎉❤

  8. Yay for coming back to La Ronde! The fireworks competition is quite spectacular to witness and is usually when we have our busiest days (Frightfest being the other major event), especially when the weather is gorgeous.

As a fellow ride op, our Boomerang is a bit rough around the edges but is worth doing if you keep your head movement in check. My favourite and suggested spot is in the back for the most thrills and intensity.

For Dragon, I’m sad you didn’t get to ride it! The best spot is in the back. The special effects are 90s cool, fun and spooky! For about 15 years there was an awesome musical soundtrack that accompanied the ride (have been riding it since it opened in 1994), whereas for the last decade or so, it’s just sound effects. Maybe one day the music will be back, but it’s definitely a fun family coaster!

Monstre 1 is what I consider to be the more adventurous/fun of the two tracks, especially for its bunny hops mid-course. Monstre 2 (the one ridden in this video) induces headaches and backaches/general body pain. Sorry you had to experience this.

Vampire is a definite must next time! I’ve ridden 1 other Batman, and ours is a completely different and intense experience. I almost pass out each time at one specific spot. It’s worth it though!

  9. Why don't you do a UK trip? Visit all the great theme parks in GB such as Alton towers, thorpe Park, Blackpool pleasure beach, flamingo land. Also if you visit Chessington world of adventures, they're currently working on a new B&M coaster in the Jumanji area, you could go check that out.

  10. La ronde is my home park and I refuse to go, le monstre gave my fiancé such a bad concussion that he has been unable to go on any coaster since. Goliath is the only thing worth riding and it’s just ok

  11. Your channel has grown up a lot over the course of your Europe trip. I don’t think there’s any going back to your old style, and that’s a really good thing. The old format was good – but now I legit look forward to seeing your updates. Can’t wait to see what next year brings for yinz!
