Congratulations and thank you to the 55 volunteers who Stepped Up and took part in Clean Up Australia Day event at Thunder Point today. This was a joint event by Warrnambool Coastcare Landcare Network and Beach Patrol 3280.
Together we made a huge difference. We removed 231.kg of rubbish from the area; 10,148 litter items.
A few reflections,
Cigarette butts are still the most common litter item – 3200 collected
Vape products have made an appearance this year. The batteries inside are of a concern.
We are now finding more wooden cutlery items than plastic.
Plastic straws are on the decline.
