Not saying it isn't a problem, but what modern game hasn't been released rushed? Lol.
yeah im gonna refund this garbage.
Someone who is knowledgeable about GPUs:
Any chance my Vega 64 will get me playable performance at 1080p and maybe not the very lowest graphics settings?
Like, I can deal with 30 – 40 fps and some fps drops below that, but I can't deal with like 20 fps and drops even lower.
Regarding settings, I can definitely deal with everything fancy off, very simple shadows as well as simple anti aliasing. Medium models and textures would be nice though so that the game looks somewhat ok.
CPU is a 3600X, so I'm not too worried about that.
This is beginning of obsolescence of second and 3rd generation Gpus. I smell collusion
I'm disappointed with some of the things you highlighted. Taxing based off of education only, the limited application of trains, transit stop behaviour, the simulation just being a money printing machines where you aren't punished for bad decisions, etc., I don't feel like the game will turn out to be the big improvement it claims to be.
I have to admit I was really interested in your thoughts, because your building style is similar to mine – you are what I'd call an "ultramodder" or modeler, building nearly 100% custom cities witth a ton of Procedural Objects. CS 2's base game went the complete opposite direction; it's all gameplay focussed with no detailing whatsoever. However, after the volcano of drama over the mods and assets being moved to Paradox Mods, it's nice to near someone that gives some honest critique of the game's flaws rather than just screaming "IT SUCKS" in 100 different ways.
For me, the base game holds some appeal, especially because the railway implementation is so much better, and some DLCs and mods (or parts of mods) were included with the game. But I'm a virtual model railroad builder, so just like with CS 1, it'll take a while – if it ever happens – before mods and assets create enough of a sandbox that I can play it in my style. It has promise., but like CS 1 at launch, it is very incomplete and will take time to "ripen" into its true potential. What will it become with time? I look forward to finding out.
Even simcity 4 factories can use the adjacent railroads directly lol
Paradox needs to Unlock the Photo Mode Adjustments for Gameplay. And if they don't, I hope we get a Mod soon to do it.
CS2 was the only game I actually thought about preordering. Now I'm glad I didn't actually do it.
I absolutely love CS1 and I'll be playing 2 once I update my hardware. But many big CS YTbers are holding back criticism you can really feel it. You're the only one who've been this upfront so far. Thanks for that.
If you want more high density and less of the huge sprawling low residential, is it possible to raise taxes on low resi and decrease taxes a lot on high density ? I wonder what other influences would potentially help high density demand. EDIT: Wait you can only tax education level? What the hell kind of system is that? What country in this world do you get taxed based on how much education you have, not by the… value of your property? What?!?
seems like another 6 months of development could really help.. sad, but I am confident that the devs fill fix the mess up in no time
when is episode 3? I think this is the second continuation, really can't wait
Personally quite happy with the upgrades to the underlying core of the game, allowing for more depth than C:S (1) from a purely technical perspective. With the console release in spring, we have an actual, feasable deadline for 'massive' performance increases and beyond that, it'll probably be the good old 5-10 years, 200-300 bucks paradox interactive monetization method until we get a game that is deeper and more fleshed out than its predecessor. In many cases, like how The Sims always made 20 steps back with each new release but tried to build upon the foundation before similar features were re-introduced with DLCs. For a game providing thousands of hours of gameplay over close to a decade of time, it's a worthwhile proposition considering that there are Tripple A games charging 100 bucks for what, for me, often results in 20-40 hour of entertainment at best.
I can't believe the mountains have to look something like that, just like in a 2005 video game.
The game seems to improve in some ereas, but also carries a lot of the flaws CS1 has
I just don't know what to think…
The game is rushed and I am disappointed. The grid zoning layout from CS1 is trash and making good looking European blocks will be pain in the ass again…
The graphical state of the game is not best (especially these ground/road textures) and it could've been much better.
This is sadly another "Early Access" game from Paradox that should have had more time to cook. Instead, it will be released in an unfinished state that will be "fixed" by DLCs that will add missing features and hopefully free updates with it.
Please just keep your CS1 series going. There’s no chance this game catches up to fully modded CS1 anytime soon and currently given the real lack of detailing ability I’m not sure I’d even want to watch a CS2 series since it would be so bland.
This is starting to look more like an expensive update to the base game of CS1, and I just know that all the features I've already bought in the first game won't all be carried over. The idea of having to rebuy the DLCs and dealing with this decrease in optimization/graphics ratio just isn't worth it to me.
Personally, I'm really disappointed. I was really looking forward to this game and hoped that it would far surpass Cities Skylines 1, with many improvements after 8 years of collecting suggestions for improvement… Unfortunately, far from it, in my opinion the game has become even worse than its predecessor. Some things have been revised, others haven't. Some much better, some much worse. Urgent improvements from the first part were mostly not implemented and others only changed slightly. Other game-improving changes were only half-baked and not really fully implemented. Some details and mechanics from the predecessor were even removed and with the few things that are now really better in CS2, the game hardly scores anymore. Like everything else in the game, the graphics have gotten better in some places, but also worse in others. For short, one has to hope that the game will be upgraded properly after its release, especially for performance. It's also a shame that the Steam Workshop is apparently not supported anymore in CS2 and only in-house (of course costly) DLCs (with probably some of the same content as in CS1) have to replace everything. All of this means; If you want to build detailed cities, like in the first part, supported by mods and community buildings, you can forget about that in part 2. Personally, I'll stick with the first game, even thou I unfortunately let myself carrie away, by the beautiful trailers (from the camera mode) and pre-ordered the game. Yes, I know, laugh at me, I've learned my lesson. Maybe at some point Cities Skylines 2 will be better than part 1 thanks to updates. Even without DLCs, mods and workshop items. But until then you can save money by playing the first, old but reliable first Cities Skylines.
If the performance is no good and the game keeps stopping and starting then it doesn't matter how good it is it is broken
I would have preferred much smaller maps with much higher state of the graphics it's pretty bad that SimCity 2013 still looks better than this game and that's 10 years ago
You CPU is absolutely ancient since you said it is R7 1700x so don't think performance is "bad" though. And pairing this thing with a 4070 will be bottlenecked to death.
THIS GAME IS RUSHED…best sums it all.
