Chris Packham On The Earth And Activism | Good Morning Britain

Chris Packham sparked controversy earlier this year when he encouraged people to join an Extinction Rebellion rally. Now he appears to have had a change of heart after deciding that the eco-protests arenโ€™t having the desired effect. In an interview this weekend with the Mail, he said โ€˜weโ€™ve been protesting about the climate for some time and things have got worse, so I can make a strong argument that this behaviour isnโ€™t workingโ€™. The wildlife expert joins us to discuss that and his new BBC series, Earth, which tells the story of the planet we call home โ€“ from its most impactful inhabitants, to an inferno that resulted in the biggest mass extinction the planet has ever seen, when as much as 90% of all species died.

  1. How did Packman get from a to b and back for this interview? What transport has he used in the two years? Where are his clothes made? His footwear?
These people are tiresome and usually hypocrites.

  2. When the eco warriors scientific argument collapses and every prediction of doom since the 1970's have failed to come to pass then using fear and the threat of never ending disruption is now the only way they have left to force their will upon us. No wonder they will never stand for election that could see them legitimately form a government and change laws because their claimed 70% support that would see them sweep every seat in the country is as much a myth as their dire predictions of doom.

  3. Its always the middle class that goes on about climate change, and hiking up electricity bills and forcing a agenda on oil and gas.
But then they can AFFORD TO!.
While other countries are pulsating and chucking out co like there is no tomorrow.
meanwhile we only produce 1% of world emissions.

  4. This is a poor discussion. Its starts off with the presenters suggesting the threat of CC is being exaggerated. It obviously isn't. Then asks CP why he's changed his mind about JOS protests. He hasn't. Packham says JOS are the only people talking about the issue. They aren't. Really poor.

  5. Susanna not realising shes suggesting JSO need to get more aggressive and Richard believing speaking assertively makes his words somehow authoritive. A decided like of self-awareness on both their parts.

  6. Finding new oil and gas sites is inimical to bring our energy to carbon neutral. We should have invested in solar and wind renewable energy in the 1990s but Labour and Conservative governments did nothing. Chris is making the case for humanity and an environmental policy that is compatible with capitalism. Good topic to discuss well done to ITV news.

  7. Yeah Chris "funny handshake club" Packham who also said on Room 101 he wanted to put humans in there. Meaning everyone but him and his mates. The great reset.
