‘Chris Bowen has a dream’: Transmission lines for new renewable projects ‘won’t work’

Nationals MP Keith Pitt says the transmission lines that are going around Australia to connect new renewable energy projects into the grid are because “Chris Bowen has a dream”.

Mr Pitt told Sky News host Chris Kenny that this was a “fantasy” of Bowen’s.

“He’s got ideals, as has the Labor Party.

“They want to cover the nation with things that just won’t work.

“Cost has never come into the equation for the federal Labor Party.”

  1. This guy is a knob head.
I'm still waiting for the first casualties to die from methane pollution.
There are many cows around where I live but I wear my mask as I socially distance myself from them 😂 No methane exhaling cow will take me down 😅

  2. You mention just getting on and building big fission nuclear reactors and our electricity needs will be solved. The trouble is, traditional fission reactors take around 20+ years to build and test before commissioning.

There is an alternative type of reactor that uses a different radioactive isotope called Thorium which is subtly different in its approach. It still is a fission reactor but is far safer than uranium reactors. They can be assembled in about two months, according to one company in the Netherlands that has a model for such a plant on offer. The size is smaller but being able to be loaded onto a ship in a hundred shipping containers, off-loaded, driven to site, plugged in together and voila – cheap abundant electricity sounds like a far better solution for Australia where Albo’s and Chris Bowen’s plan is to cover the countryside with super ugly solar, wind farms and connect them with 3,000km of ugly high tension power lines. Hideous.

  3. Doing "nothing" at this stage is by far the Greenest and most sensible option. Certainly until so called "renewables" are actually clean and scalable.
We need to maintain our existing coal plants properly as nothing can replace them before 2040.

  4. WHY is there NO debate happening with nuclear? We dig up our uranium and happily ship to other countries around the world to use, but WE are not permitted to even talk about nuclear power in this country. WHY ???

  5. This whole becoming the Green Energy Superpower of the world dream of Albo and assisted by Chris Bowen is a total waste of money and resources, All the land needed for these Transmission Lines, the solar panels, the wind turbines, what a joke they don't even know if it will work, just keep putting them up, hate to see what will happen when this is the only power resources we have

  6. Most people know climate change is total B.S. It was the Labor Gov, that signed the Lima Declaration, that destroyed our once great manufacturing industries. Here we go again, Labor on another destruction mission. I am sick and tired of all these lying useless politicians & bureaucrats, kick them all out !!! I stand with the farmers !!

  7. It's obvious why we need to put in new transition lines. Because the thermal plants are breaking down for one. Secondly according to right wing press "Macro – Business energy prices are on there way down. It's not a dream it's a reality and renewables will give us cheaper power.

  8. He did such a wonderful job reforming the financial planning industry. Shorten also was such a awesome help. They mess up their portfolios and move on to the next one. Seriously lacking in anything other than personal ambition and care nothing for the people they represent.

  9. Mr Bowen has been ineffective running portfolios in past. Giving him Energy is a disaster. Aside from affecting farmers, he has plans for big offshore wind farms which adversely affect wildlife. A quick change to position these wind farms off Sydney’s east and northern beaches, who’s constituents helped put Labor into government, would bring a huge national outcry.

  10. The idiots running the circus will drive power prices through the roof to the point it wont even pay itself off in any decent time frame, and they'll make us pay for all their stupidity along the way.

  11. Bowen has a wet dream…that aside his agenda fits right in with wrecking this countries cheap energy supply…and as for "renewables" they will and are in need of renewing, at the moment there's tonnes of expended wind turbine blades laying around waiting for someone to figure out how to get rid of them. Oh! hey you know that 17 year old who sat Bowen on his brain explaining nuclear power…

  12. I always thought that lying about financial matters was a criminal offence, particularly when large sums of money (let's say billions and billions) are involved. After watching that 17 year old completely destroy Bonehead's "quotes" for nuclear power generators, I can't see how he can get away with it. He needs locking up!

  13. I’ll never forget that Chris Bowen told us not to vote Labor if we didn’t agree with their plans to save us from climate change. That’s why I don’t believe the voter always gets it right.

  14. One day we'll all be looking at the crumbling, abandoned and never used transmission lines. An incomplete, failed project that cost us all billions.. A testimony to Chris Bowen and his green fantasy.
