Chinese Village Made $66 MILLION dollars in One Year!

I went in search of the secret to long life and ended up tracking down a village that made 66 MILLION US DOLLARS in 2021* by growing a very simple crop. However, the nutrient rich soil of the village turn this crop into a superfood, hence why it makes so much money, and hence why many villagers have been able to build their very own MANSIONS!

In this video, I check out one of Hainan’s Longevity Villages, before travelling to the superfood village covered in mansions!

  1. Your Mandarin is reasonably clear but my hunch is that some of the villagers are uncomfortable with strangers especially Westerners, hence, they either ignore you or just give short answers.

  2. Maybe you should start planting sweet potatoes there Stu. Become the white sweet potatoes king of China.
I can picture it now, a foreign white man king with a crown cartoon figure on the label. With the words 'king of sweet potatoes county'

    Stu,
Probably, the cause of those elderly people did not respond to your query on their age was due to cultural barrier ; not language barrier.
    司徒,
    中华传统习俗对长辈询问他人年龄的敬词是:
    请问您今年贵庚?
It literally means May I know your "precious/honourable/dear/invaluable" age?
    "贵庚" 是一个敬辞, 它的意思就是问对方的年龄是多大。

  4. I think sweet potato is a quite common vegetable (perhaps I'm right) in Asia! And, according to my parent, they have take sweet potato as their daily meal, during the days when they are young (our family quite poor back to the early days)! Today, we take the sweet potato like a snack, which we can enjoy it anytime we want 😋

  5. Can you meet the Utsuls people in Sanya please ?
They are the descendants of the Cham people (Kingdom of Champa ➡️ present-day Central Vietnam) in Hainan.
But they called themselves Hui Chinese Muslims when ethnically recognised.
