  2. I am glad the Laos people are standing up to the Chinese. Always a bad idea to do business with them unless you're the one with the upper hand. I hope the bridge doesn't fall apart soon like their other international projects. Japanese projects last long, Chinese crap falls apart in no time🤣🤣🤣 Tofu dreg they call it there

  3. hi Todd, those boats would have been a lot older than you think. it's not uncommon for people in south east Asia to keep using boats passed down from one generation to another. I wouldn't be surprised if they were 400 + years old.

  4. you are a very good person and you help poor people in Laos a lot, you do this not only with words, but also with deeds…

many of your videos are wonderful and I watch with pleasure….but please don’t politicize the title of that video “China Wanted Laos' Largest Island…”

you apparently don’t know there will be bad consequences for Laos because of such a name…

I have absolutely no doubt that you love Laos just like Australia, just like I love Laos, because I myself am Laotian, my parents are Laotians and my great-grandmothers and great-grandfathers are all Laotians…

because any war begins with incitement to hate each other between countries…and they are easily promoted by incitement to hate each other between countries using YouTube or Facebook, especially with neighboring countries…and war, as you know, means poverty and destruction in a country like 50-100 years ago…therefore, there is no need to incite hatred between countries, especially neighboring countries, because any import and export begins with a neighboring country, and not with a country 1000 km from it…I have seen a lot of many Laotian bloggers and foreign bloggers who do not understand the consequences, as for example they say when the Mekong is dried up or flooded, they always blame China…and they don’t need their reasons, they just know that the Mekong River begins with China and therefore China is to blame, etc…Yes, the Mekong starts from China, but there are only very small parts of them, and there is no platinum in it… and the main platinum is located in Laos (Laos is called the ASEAN battery country and now has more than 70 platinum), but no one says this…Yes, the war in Ukraine was not a year ago…. it started a long time ago 20 years ago and it begins with inciting hatred of each other between Ukrainians and Russians with the help of television channels, YouTube and Facebook…if anyone thinks that Ukraine is an independent country, then you are mistaken, Ukraine has long been a colony of America, they are not ruled by the presidents of Ukraine, but by the American embassy in Ukraine…and the war in Ukraine is not a war between Ukraine and Russia, but a war between NATO (the American leadership) and Russia, and Ukraine is only land and human resources that America uses to fight Russia and nothing more…

  6. Hej Todd. Greedy China taking Laos for one of it's colony.
About thrash everywhere: the solution will comefrom the young generating through schooling. They will "educate" their parents. Plastic bags has to be eliminated because it's a long term problem.
All the best to you 3.

  7. Tod, the most concerning part of this vlog was the total disregard of the locals, 25 minutes in, to the filthy rubbish discarded as far as their arms could hurl it and nothing done about & present company wondering in not seeing / worrying about it chatting about nonsensical topics.
Must be the way it is over there!

  8. Todd, love your work. I am a fellow Aussie, retired and have been living in Thailand for ten years.
I have lost my love of Thailand because of the ongoing, ever increasing level of corruption.
What you have shown me is a less corrupt peaceful neighboring country.
Any advice on me moving to Laos ?

  10. Oh Todd , you have brought back memories. Visited Laos in 2014. Survived landslides from Phonesavan and had to fly to Vientianen
and Pakse. Ferried across to Don Khong and stayed in the accommodation across from your reception area. Would love to go back but unfortunately getting too stiff in the joints. Love your videos. Greetings from Perth. WA.

  11. Anything in Laos that china wants, it has to have a very value, assets of some sort for them to want that bad. China only want what they will and can benefit fro. Lao needs to keep strict or else the Chinese will take over your land and Lao will be under China’s control.

  12. Ha Ha, To the Chinese. What make a special economic zone or just completely spoil the place just like Sihanoukville. What a way to completely ruin somewhere unspoilt for centurys.

  13. Talking of coindences. I just arrived back from a 600km Arctic Circle road trip 2 hours ago, and one of the last songs I heard playing on the car radio was Chris Isaaks "Wicked Game" then upon watching this video I hear an instrumental version playing in the background.

We love your videos, black 7 white photos, and even the music which is agreeable to our tastes. It would be great if we could meet up and if so the beers are on me! We are in Lao from December 14 to December 28 (two weeks) before we travel back to Thailand. I am retired and my wife sadly has Alzheimer's at just 53 but she loves your channel as I do and these days we do everything together!

Here is our love story which was posted on the Thairish Times a few weeks back. https://youtu.be/NW_noT549SI?si=OHx9U0r5YzgYTs-i
