On April 6 near Tarrytown, New York, a train operator named William Kennedy sent out an emergency radio communication to nearby train crews after noticing a young child on the tracks. The northbound Train 737 was then stopped by the engineers. The crew proceeded at a slow speed until they could get a better view of a curve. Once they confirmed that the child was on the track, Assistant Conductor Marcus Higgins immediately jumped off the train to rescue the 3-year-old boy, who was standing near a fence on top of an electrified rail. The child’s mother stated that he has autism.
