The Chernobyl nuclear accident is one that haunted many of the survivors until their painful deaths from radiation poisoning. Just what went wrong that day at the nuclear facility that would change the lives of so many? Check out today’s epic new video that breaks down the events that led to one of the biggest nuclear accidents in history!

"Not great, Not terrible…"
Babooshka means grandmother.
My grandpa's brothers was the people from Sweden who noticed the radiation levels and got that information out
Iron men doing all they can to limit their catastrophe
3.6 roentgen, not great, not terrible
The firefighters kicking the graphite and picking it up made me sick.
I knew something wasn’t adding up when I heard the story of the baby “absorbing” the radiation for the mother and saving her life. Thanks for clearing that up.
I thought I was watching a documentary. This is a cartoon.
you just put last ep of hbo series into drawings
Covering up accidents like this is the worst they can do! It frustrates me that out of fear what the world gonna think about Soviet Union they let people die like flies, flames are raging, a radiation is floating around… Like what the actual heck? Alert the world and ask for help, don't cut the telephone lines you freaks!! 😡
The bridge of death did exist and it's known some people went there what isn't known is how many of them died as a result of it. But no they weren't all asleep if you drop a bomb on a city even if you do so at 3AM you'll find most people quickly get out of their beds. but the bridge did exist, there's pictures of it
Valery Ilyich Khodemchuk's body was never found. Not sure where you got the info that his body was seen by one of his colleagues, that is false.
The bridge is 100 percent real and people there did die from the radiation
The series on HBO Max (Chernobyl) well done on the true account👍. Sometimes you must make sacrifice for the truth (psalm 94:16) I will preach the truth 02-07-23@ 5:42am
Chernobyl is the ultimate illustration of what dictatorship creates. People are either so terrified that if they fail/disobey they or their loved ones will be hurt/killed that they don't stand up to dangerous or downright daft ideas, or in their ambition to climb the ladder they become willing to do anything and sacrifice others since that just the way those systems work.
No matter how you look at it, such societies are bound to collapse onto themselves under the weight of their own lies.
Crazy how the government lied and now we know. Thank God that doesn't happen anymore. Especially with what's going on.
You are wrong. I need to know about Xenon.
Misinformation….lol
What would've happened if they HADN'T dropped all the control rods to shut down the reactor? What would've happened???
If the goal of the control rods was to absorb the neutrons, why would they have graphite tips? Why wouldn't they be purely neutron absorbing material
The affects of the Chernobyl meltdown on the Ukrainian people, and even future Ukrainian people is still present to this day. Some Ukrainians are born with deformities due their family being exposed to high levels of radiation. And these are people that have lived their whole lives in Kyiv, never getting close to Pripyat or Chernobyl. I've always blamed the Dnieper river for the spread of fallout as it flows from the north to the south into the Black Sea carrying much fallout with it south. Rain carries the dust and radioactive particles to the Dnieper where it then moves downstream.
This results in far more Ukrainian land being subject to irradiation not to mention the Dnieper makes up %80 of all available drinking water in Ukraine.
I dropped a tear in the ocean, and when i find it thats the day i will stop loving you.
If you are gonna have a nuclear power plant you better ensure that you have the absolutely right resources and the right person for the right job.
2:55 not full power, hugeeee reason for this disaster
Actually, it is 400 Roentgens (gamma or most of beta) that is lethal as an acute (within less than 72 hours) dose. Not milliRoentgens.
Nuclear power plants are overcomplicated steam generators
It's amazing how much damage can be caused by the media and government propping up a narrative…. look at how much we learned about the trial COVID vaccines after the initial panDEMic. Dem pan-ic? 🤷🏻♂️
btw a small error you made… the bridge of death is indeed real and many of the locals gathered there which ofc resulted in their deaths
3.6 roentgen
I suddenly remember the movie Chernobyl
Too bad Russia survived lol
Wow the info on this is bad like the weight of the caps and the actual reactor lid being 1000 tons. Not 10,000
Humans will never understand the magnitude of this event. 🍷
As a Radiation worker/i still get goose bombs watching this horror taking place. More competent should"ve been employed. Sympathies to all the relatives that survive this ordeal
a dazzling beam of death from the stars
The year my friends mom was born
“50,000 people used to live here. Now its a ghost town.”
Pov you are watching this 10 kilometers from the reaktor in Paks
There was a bridge of death… it connected Pripyat to Chernobyl. Not sure about how many people watched the fire from the bridge, or how many might've died, but the bridge exists. It's not a myth.
18:05 “people are living it up, full blast. Weddings are going on”…. Most of those weddings won’t have an anniversary and many of them won’t even have a honeymoon. Radiation be scary. So sad 😞
I consider myself agnostic, but the three members of the Chernobyl Suicide Squad living long healthy lives has to be a miracle. They deserved more for what they did in my eyes.
08:59 background music name?
America with Palestine Ohio right now.. shows capitalism or communism are always deep with beuroracy.
Nuclear is still a theory, stay sleep sheep.
No. I heard something wrong around the 6:00 minute mark in the video. The power surge was caused by the scram button. It didn't start on its own,
It's scary how the Soviet Government kept so much information hidden from the people, and the exact same thing is happening here in the US with the train derailments.
HBO did a great mini-series on this
7:08
My mom said she remembers watching the news about it and they were told not to buy/consume soil based food due to possible contamination through the rain
