It’s going to come down to the will of Bates. He’s been talking a good one about being a better defender and better decision maker.
Great show!!
Plumlee
the rhetoric around Bates is insane. He is a solid kid with a good head on hsi shoulders. HE knows how to play the game at a high level and he DEFINITELY knows how to score….not to mention he is a legitimate knockdown shooter.
Brandon Miller BARELY shot more efficiently and he had a better team around him and had WAY MORE open shots.
JB pretty much always disappoints me so I doubt he will do this, but I would put EMoni in the competition for starting 3 out of the gate.
Emoni Bates is LITERALLY more NBA ready than Jalen Green was and has a higher ceiling than Jalen Green.
BRandon Miller's percentages are WAY more concerning to me. Brandon Miller was on a better team and got easier shots. IF these guys arent concerned about Brandon Miller, they shouldnt be concerned with Bates. Bates shot 50+% from the field his entire life. College was just a rocky road for him. HE was injured in MEmphis and they played him like a PG…not to mention he just turned 17 at that point.
At E. Michigan, the defense was focused ENTIRELY on him and he still averaged about 20 ppg on 41+% shooting taking a lot of difficult shots (he didnt have a choice).
Watch him in high school. He has good instincts and a good IQ.
Anyone doubting his prowess is ill informed and/or blind.
