Charger Chat – Episode 228 – Next Man Up – An LA Chargers Podcast

We are days away from Chargers football and the anticipation is killing us. We were all expecting a healthy squad to return after the bye week and that’s just not the case. We look at the injury report which is extensive and welcome our new kicker, Mr. Dicker. The Atlanta Falcons are our next opponent, we get ready by looking at their road to 4-4 and their 1st place in the NFC South. We welcome on Eric Smith, senior writer for our Los Angeles Chargers. We finish up with a new Bolt Beat with Jason Reed.

  1. Awesome show guys!! No trades this Bye Week but I feel they KNOW who's contract is coming up. With the money they spent this offseason, they're a bit strapped…Herbert is a coming up 👍⚡⚡🏈

  2. If you take the word IF – out of the vocabulary of Charger fans – we can't talk about the team.
It's been that way for a decade now at least. Here's an example: "If the Chargers…………………, then………………….., and……………………, we'd be Super Bowl Champs." Fill in the blanks. 🙃😋

  3. No Allen and the medical staff wanted him to wait till after the bye week but Staley made the call for him to be on a snap count that's why he didn't take one snap after halftime cus he knew something was not right still he had the setback because he played basically he said that

  4. This is like the 3rd setback because the coaching staff keep rushing him back too quick if he just went on IR to begin with missed four games and came back slowly he be good. or if he just went into the bye week not playing he would be good to go now they rushed him back multiple times for crying out loud he is still on a day to day basis get the f out of here with that he is gonna miss 2 or 3 weeks minimum still how is that day to day when you know he is out multiple weeks. Staley is a idiot and they are taking a gamble with.the rest of the season bye constantly saying wade moves in the offseason and blah blah blah. Well they didn't do enough and they really didn't do anything for the offense except add Zion got lucky with salyer and change Everett with Jared cook but they basically went with.the same exact offense as last year could of had a upgrade over storm Norton and added at least one extra wr that is fast theres still gonna be a good month probably before any of Allen, bosa ,or mike come back if we go below..500 the next 4 games the season is done

  5. It's not fair to be critical about no trade deadline deals – after the offseason moves the Bolts made. But maybe they should hire a faith healer or witchdoctor for the medical staff.

  6. Telesco, Staley, and Dean Spanos were added to the injury report this evening.
Spanos has a severe wallet strain. He's out for the remainder of the season.
Telesco and Staley both might need to go on IR – decision will be made after the Falcon game.

  7. Great job as usual guys! Keeping it positive despite all the challenges… Let’s hope Herbert is close to 100%, and the O-Line can figure out how to open up some running lanes for Eckeler and maybe Spiller? Isn’t it time to give him a chance.. after all he was a 4th round draft pick who was supposed to be that guy to give Eckeler a breather.. right?
Also, I’d like to see them pass protect well so Herbert has some time to find the receivers. To me, that’s the key to the game on offense..
On defense, as long as Mariota is contained and there aren’t any 50+ yard runs, they should be fine.
I’m predicting all of this will happen, we get the W, and go to 5-3.
Is it too much to ask for- a comfortable win- just one time this season?
