The X-Men are a superhero team appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer/editor Stan Lee and artist/co-plotter Jack Kirby, the team first appeared in The X-Men #1 (September 1963). Although initially canceled in 1970 due to low sales, following its 1975 revival and subsequent direction under writer Chris Claremont, it became one of Marvel’s most recognizable and successful franchises. They have appeared in numerous books, television shows, 20th Century Fox’s X-Men films, and video games. The X-Men title may refer to the superhero team itself, the eponymous comic series, or the broader franchise including various solo titles and team books such as the New Mutants, Excalibur, and X-Force.

In the Marvel Universe, mutants are humans who are born with a genetic trait called the X-gene which grants them natural superhuman abilities, generally manifesting during puberty. Due to their differences from the majority of humanity, mutants are subject to prejudice and discrimination; many X-Men stories feature social commentary on bigotry, justice, and other political themes. The X-Men have fought against a variety of enemies, including villainous mutants, human bigots, supervillains, mystical threats, extraterrestrials, and malevolent artificial intelligence. In most iterations of the team, they are led by their founder Charles “Professor X” Xavier, a powerful telepath who runs a school for mutant children out of his mansion in Westchester, New York, which secretly is also the headquarters of the X-Men. Their stories have frequently involved Magneto, a powerful mutant with control over magnetic fields, who is depicted as an old friend of and foil to Xavier, variously acting as an adversary or as an ally.

Early X-Men issues introduced the original team composed of Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Beast, Angel, and Iceman, along with their archenemy Magneto and his Brotherhood of Evil Mutants featuring Mastermind, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, and Toad. The comic focused on a common human theme of good versus evil and later included storylines and themes about prejudice and racism, all of which have persisted throughout the series in one form or another. The evil side in the fight was shown in human form and under some sympathetic beginnings via Magneto, a character who was later revealed to have survived Nazi concentration camps only to pursue a hatred for normal humanity. His key followers, Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch, were Romani. Only one new member of the X-Men was added, Mimic/Calvin Rankin, but soon left due to his temporary loss of power.

The title lagged in sales behind Marvel’s other comic franchises. In 1969, writer Roy Thomas and illustrator Neal Adams rejuvenated the comic book and gave regular roles to two recently introduced characters: Alex “Havok” Summers (Cyclops’ brother, who had been introduced by Roy Thomas before Adams began work on the comic) and Lorna Dane, later called Polaris (created by Arnold Drake and Jim Steranko). However, these later X-Men issues failed to attract sales and Marvel stopped producing new stories with issue #66 (March 1970), later reprinting a number of the older comics as issues #67–93.

  1. Honestly the in and out accent of how he played it made it even more realistic. Ya gotta think, how long has he been down there away from any1 who speaks his language or talks like him other than other gambits, which we didnt see more than 1 of so this one might not be like dp or loki where this gambit might be the only one to screw up with the tva, hell this gambit might be a pruned timeline of the one who mastered his powers and accidentilly started poping planets lol. Maybe he killed their anchor being on accident and the tva had to step in lmao.
When ppl are away from their origin, they typically start to acclimate their way of speaking to a local dialect or accent if they live their long enough and dont do anything to prevent losing their accents or grasp on their language. Ive had hispanic friends who have familly rules for any of them that visits or lives there they are only allowed to speak spanish or puerto rican, especially the ones who have alot of ethnic/national pride. His accent going in and out being realistic is hes probably losing it over time especially if theyre there forver. Did they ever say if ppl actualy age there? I dont remember if they do in any time theyve touched on this part of the mcu, mostly in loki
