We have an extended episode this week as Jonas Berg, one of the owners of Selden Masts flies down to Mexico to help us re-rig our lagoon 450 catamaran. The knowledge that this man shares is invaluable, and there is so much to learn from him, hence the longer video this week.
SV Parlay is a hurricane damaged Lagoon 450 catamaran, which Colin rebuilt with friends and has started sailing around the world. We found bulkhead damage on their catamaran in Panama, so have fixed her up, and are almost ready to cross the Pacific Ocean!!

Sorry Jamie but files are made to cut on the push stroke
Iβve always questioned the guys that apply caulk to the top of the stay-lock fittings. Salt water will just run down between the strands of wire. Happy to see that Seldon confirmed this thought.
Thank you Colin! Awesome and informative video!!!
You can never get sick of listening to a master……
Life Lessons – valuable – thank you so much
Use Mastinox to fit stainless steel in aluminium. Itβs quite toxic so use gloves but is safes the day later in life.
Very hot water helps to lossen locktight
So cool to see!!
ok – this is by far one of the best sailing related videos I've seen. Thank you.
Very interesting Γ©pisodeππ» Congrats to Parlay Team and to Jonas ππ»ππ»ππ»πΎπΎπΎ
Stainless into aluminum is frequent to seizure so the lock-tite acts as a lubricant(anti-seize) while keeping the bolts in place at the same time.
Truly a great episode with so much knowledge being shared! Kudos to everyone involved. Can not wait for the next episode!
Great video guys and great info about the shrouds. I found it very interesting. Thank you. ππππβ΅
One of the best episodes! Great technicals
I'm waiting on this week's episode
hugely informative ..tip top!
Colin, I think this must be one of the most educational vids you ever showed. Very interesting to see Jonas at first hand, hearing his comments and guidelines. Priceless information !
great project but far too technical for me.π’π΄
Would it be advisable to swap out all of the stainless Phillips screws for either a hexagonal screw or Allen screw? This way you wouldnβt have to worry about stripping the screw head next time it has to be removed.
Super informative. Thanks.
Want to undo loctited bolts and screws use a blowtorch to heat them above 260C the loctite then loses its strength and is easy to undo
That's a rigging class! Awesome! Thanks guys
gold never seize will work for those bolts and screws
Ive never given riggihg a moments thought, yet i enjoyed this video. Well done, guys.
Jamie: "It's not makin anything lately!"
Lol poor guy
