  1. Funny how @Cenk mentions Turkey being on the Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean when he talks about the beaches and completely ignores how much more of Turkey borders the Black Seathan either of the two seas he mentioned!🤔

  2. My Favorite Show on Netflix is Drilis Ertrugrul aka the Turkish game of Thrones it lays down all the History of the Turks in Anatolia from the Battle of Manzikert to the Foundation of the Ottomans who lasted for 600 years up until the year 1924.

And in 1924 the General Ataturk defeated all of his Enemies (British, French and mostly Greeks) and formed an Independent but Secular State most people don't know at this time much of the Middle East was carved up by the Europeans in the Sykes Picot Border Agreement.

And even much Larger Nations such as India and China were Slaves of Colonialism, but Turkey fought their way to Independence, they are a people worth Admiring.

  3. CENK, I've been here performing in Bodrum, Antalya and living in Cemekoy in Istanbul since April (performing here since 2014)…man I would have been honored to have run into you and shaken your hand. Blessings to you!

  4. It was great to walk around ruins from overlapping cultures that would have been fenced off and commercialised elsewhere. And for every crooked carpet salesman and dodgy repairman, there are ten people who are just plain honest and very helpful. The mosques are fabulous but I wasn't comfortable that so many resources were put into them when a lot of people were and are struggling. Then again, empires do that with their religious institutions.

  5. Are you kidding! The Aegean is GORGEOUS; so transparent that one can clearly see schools of fish all through. And, I’m originally from a Caribbean country, so I know my bodies of water😉.

My son in law is Turkish and the family travels to Turkey once a year, so I’ve seen a bit, by now. Istanbul is a fascinating place. I’ve yet to go to Anatolia, which is a must see , as is the recently discovered ancient temple of Göbekli Tepe, which is older than the Egyptian pyramids or Stonehenge.

  6. Why I must love what you convinced of, how you’re different from the right wing extremists.
A lot of people not a lot most of humans inherently tend to prefer having a religion rather than nothing, so if you have the complete information about what people ask before going to Turky may you will suggest to show more mosques!

  7. when i was deployed to Incirlik AB in 2002, me and bunch of my navy buddies in my squadron took a day trip to Adana. We had a tour guide actually take us (drove like a bat out of hell LOL) to the mosque there. It was huge and BEAUTIFUL. We were allowed inside (no shoes obviously) and we were allowed to take pictures (no flash photography). It was very welcoming, no weirdness because of 9/11… yet. We wound up driving back to base, having a nice Turkish dinner (this place called Moonlight Cafe that served this tava stew-type dish) and we had a good ol' time that weekend. That's it. That's the story. Day trip to the mosque in Adana and went back to base.

  8. Okay so, just want to say even though all the news and stuff you cover is far more urgent and probably more popular on the youtube business side of things
I really appreciate fun segments and stories like this. We need some of this to balance the bad.

  9. I wouldn't mind visiting the mosque yes I would probably spend more time with the beach but I love the architect. Now Cenk I don't know if you forgotten but be careful throwing that age stuff around you see the look Anna gave you no court in the land would convict her LOL. Now as far as the food is concerned I'm sure turkey would throw me out I am a giant foodie I can see it now he's not allowed to come back in my best Turkish accent lol

  10. Interesting Cenk doesn't mention Turkey's imperialist past and shameful involvement in the slave trade?
Interesting fact, Turkey only abolished slavery in the 1930's, after European papers reported white girls openly on sale in Istanbul!

  11. I can argue that the food in turkey most of the times isn't anything special 😂 i live here but everything else 👍 it's a shame this country is run by religious extremists….

  12. The video with the salt-covered grouper on fire was gorgeous – not for anything ON the boat, but for the lights of the village in the background, right on the water … such a beautiful place to live, or visit, especially this time of year: anywhere there’s a lovely beach is where we all wanna be when it’s this ACCURSEDLY HOT in the land-locked states.
