Celebrations after PM Sheikh Hasina resigns, flees Bangladesh

Thousands of people have taken to the streets of Bangladesh’s capital, Dhaka, as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned following weeks of deadly protests against the government.
In an address to the nation, army chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman announced on Monday the formation of an interim government following talks with political parties.
Local media showed images of crowds storming the prime minister’s official residence in Dhaka, overturning furniture, smashing glass door panels, and carrying off books and other items.

Al Jazeera’s Tanvir Chowdhury reports from Dhaka.

  3. America does not make a statement when a child dies in Palestine. Then human rights are not violated. When Jamaat Shibir died in Bangladesh, America made a statement. Such is the conscience of America. Sheikh Hasina is a woman. America scares that woman.

  8. Trust me, After all of this bangladesh conditions will be more difficult. that's what we experienced in Indonesia, after the 1998 reform we had to go through various upheavals to develop the country. So no matter how bad it is, power should be transferred in an elegant way so that the social and economic conditions of the people are not disturbed.

Hindus are being persecuted, hindu women abducted in daylight, girls tied to pillars, temples are burning, zoo animals are being chased for fun, dead bodies on roads being kicked, dead people hanged inverted from bridges. Bangladesh govt only refused you a military base, why the Hindus are suffering, why CIA, why you did that ????
