Terracotta which literally means the baked earth, is considered a mystical and holistic art form because it incorporates all the five vital elements of nature like air, fire, earth, water and ether.
The CCRT Sanskriti Haat mela ( March 23 – 27, 2022 ) featured terracotta art by Giriraj Prasad ji, the quintessential potter who is a national awardee and an internationally recognised craft maestro.
Born in Alwar, Rajasthan, he says he received skills of the pottery craft as a blessing from his father. And today, the craft of terracotta pottery has become synonymous with his family name.
