  1. I have been in caves before. Giant and open ones, got to see some stalactites and stalagmites. It’s was beautiful and amazing. Why the eff Someone would do this is beyond my comprehension

  2. Here's what I don't understand about caveing. For the most part, what's the point? Where are you going? If you're going down, there's only so far you can go down. Eventually you're going to have to go back up. Now if a cave were to lead somewhere, I can at least understand it (although I personally would find another path), but they don't.

  3. He literally died doing what he loved. At least he has influenced more people to stay safe while exploring the Nutty Putty cave, and left two children to his wife who can go on and continue his legacy and blood.

  4. I live in Utah where this happened, Nutty Putty cave is no longer accessible of course but they do have a plaque where the entrance used to be. It’s kinda in the eagle mountain/Orem area of Utah. The atmosphere is eerie when you know the story, I remember dragging my wife along to see it one weekend and after she learned the story felt the same way I did just saddened a young husband and father lost his life in there in a horrific way.

  6. I remember when I first heard about what happened to John in the Nutty Putty Cave, he died in one of the worst ways possible. I can't even imagine being in that situation and to find out the rescuers can't save you, like omg omg 😣

  7. i’ve watched several videos about this incident over the years, and every single time i somehow have this thought that “maybe it’ll end differently this time,” even though i know it obviously won’t. idk why i always think that— maybe it’s denial? either way, it never gets easier to hear about.
