The title may be a play on the B-man album, but there are little musical comparisons here, despite the long shadow of that legacy, Caveghoul’s Ulric Graves is an indomitable force to be reckoned with himself, wilding raw melodicism like the nail-spiked weapon it is, and elevating it with the tremulous primal energies of dungeon synth and primitive percussion.
Every track is deadly, but Drowning in the Sands of Time is an absolute monster, with a peaking climax of fluttering synths and ravening vocals that spiral towards a ferociously euphoric coda, before imploding to grim cosmic dust, and warping into the next compelling piece of arcane supremacy; Voidtraveler.
Such is the album progression, and this is the way of the ‘Ghoul.
