Good morning, friends and families! I hope you enjoyed the trailer for today’s livestream of Amelia and Mocha meeting the kittens for the very first time! It was a lot of fun, and they were so well-behaved! It didn’t take long for the kitties to wisen up to the puppies’ antics and by the end of the video they were already teasing Amelia and Mocha! If you missed it, you can watch it here: https://youtu.be/IAqFgjkioAA.
Otherwise, we are going to be bringing Missy’s puppies out of their pool to play again today. It’s a good developmental activity; it helps them learn about routine, which in turn helps reinforce potty training. Each day we will bring them out of the pool, take them to the (real) potty tray, play with each other (and Mom) for a little while, then back to the potty tray, and then back to the pool for a nap. As they get older they will stay out for longer; we adapt to their pace of development. If it seems like we are moving them too quickly, we slow down
We hope you join us!

Welcome to the Red Barn Cavaliers family home! We invite the families and friends of our puppies ‘into’ our home to watch their puppy thrive and grow. You are viewing some of our current Cavalier puppies. We perform all of their care on the livestream for families to see and be part of, including vaccinations, weight checks, dewormings, nail trims, socialization, and so much more. For more information about upcoming litters, please visit the ‘Upcoming Litters’ page of our website, www.redbarncavaliers.com. More info about us is further down in description.
We raise Cavalier King Charles Spaniels with a proactive approach that places an emphasis on their psychosocial development. We have raised many puppies for the distinct purpose of becoming Emotional Support Animals (ESAs). This breed of dog has a temperament that is ripe for therapeutic bonding, so we nurture those characteristics to optimize them further. We try to answer questions during the live streams – please don’t be afraid to speak up! We may not always be able to answer right away, but often we will go through questions as we are taking care of the puppies.
Another great use for our streams is to leave them on for your dogs at home to give them some company. A lot of people search for things like tv for dogs to watch, and since our streams run for an extended length of time, you know it isn’t going to end for your dog! Let us entertain your dog while you are away!
We potty train our puppies using pine pellets designed for rehydration. The timing is important because as they get older, they crawl away from their nest to potty and poop – so we want them to go to the pellets! Using this method, our puppies typically understand where to go potty within about a week of practice, and they use the potty tray on their own without guidance within about two weeks of practice. By 5 weeks old, they have their potty training down pretty well but still have night time accidents. By about 6-7 weeks old, they begin waking during the night to use the potty tray rather than wet themselves in their sleep (much like human babies!).
We raise our puppies not just in our home, but rather where we are spending most of our time that they are developmentally ready for. Our young puppies, for example, are always located in our master bedroom for 24-hour observation and care. We leave the audio on so that viewers are always able to hear the puppies’ adorable squeaks, purrs, “barks,” howls, and more, but that means you may overhear some personal interactions. We prefer this format because we are able to easily provide context or clarity to viewers if necessary. We show you how we potty train our puppies starting as early as a week old, and how we nurture their training throughout their 8 weeks with us to hand off a well-trained puppy to their family.
