  1. I might get murdered for saying this but as a wrath baby, I genuinely thought that MOP was the best wow experience and time I personally had and I'd love to relive that actually. Buuuut I might be fairly alone in that.

  2. By definition Cata is no longer "Classic". That was literally the original purpose of the expansion. To redo and update 'outdated' world areas and features, world areas and features that people liked. That's why we asked for it back.

Alternate endings to WotLK/Classic + are both attractive alternatives, maybe even something where all three versions (Vanilla, BC, and WotLK) get smushed together and built upon horizontally instead of vertically (rather than higher level caps/higher ilvl), new content rewards gear that enable different talent builds, rewards new skill interactions, or improves upon characters in other ways without just inflating core power and stats?

Either way, I think the future of Classic at the conclusion of WotLK is going to require more investment from Blizzard. I think if they release Cataclysm as they've done with BC and Wrath, it will not be nearly as successful, and may harm the franchise more than help it, just like it did the first time they released it.

  3. I will forever hold Cata and MoP in a special place in my gaming memories. They were the expansions where you could finally play the specs that Classic players consider “memes” in PvE. Notably, Arms, BM and Subtlety.

Looking back pre-Cata, it’s depressing that three of the most thematic specs to their class (Beast Master, Stealth Dagger Rogue, Slow 2H Warrior) were not given proper gear scaling for raiding.

The day that Blizzard gave BM Hunters pet-scaling with gear, beast-cleave, movement while channeling Cobra Shot and Stampede, I was hooked on the Hunter class and stuck with it until they ruined the class in Legion.

If you’re a warrior or hunter main, you’ll remember how now only fun, but viable Arms and Survival/BM were, especially at the tail-end of MoP.

Survival Hunters are a faint shadow in retail of what they once were. I’ll never forget how satisfying it felt to chain AoE multi-shot/serp sting dot into that machine gun Barrage. How fun it was to drop a freezing trap on a boss and shotgun chain 4-5 explosive shots back to back with the T16 4-set bonus.

Sure, Cata and MoP had their faults like every expansion does. But I truly believe each class was it’s most fun version in MoP and had more buttons to press, raising the skill ceiling and differentiating good Class players from bad ones.

  4. I'm surprised that most of what Asmon said about Cata is right. I have not played the original Cataclysm, but I have played on a private server, and I can say that difficulty is overrated: Cataclysm was actually fucking easy. If you want the best experience, reductions to player damage/healing are needed. And some balance changes, for example, DKs being too powerful, other tanks are being less powerful, Horde racials are being too powerful, some items like Darkmoon Card: Volcano are too powerful and can last you through the whole Cata etc.
With ideal raid comps and preparation time (split raids, alt raids), the whole heroic content is going to be cleared in the first possible week (2nd week, after you get achievement for clearing Normal). Even casual players and regular raiders will get to fully clear after some time. The raids need to be harder, and yes, LFR needs to be abolished.

  5. What I always wanted from classic was a game that stopped in time. A forever game where I can eventually have all the highest tier gear. To be the star player that I could never be in a two year rush. I've played over 10000 hours of wow. About 500 to 600 days. But hear this, I have NEVER completed a raid set EVER. Best I ever got was 7/8 Giantstalker and 5/8 Dragonstalker. This is the reality of most people. We were never either hardcore enough, or good enough to really enjoy the end game, or we never met enough other people who were good enough to form a good guild. And no matter how casual I might be perceived as, 600 days played (most of which logged in a span of three years between 2005 and 2007) is not casual in any sense of the word.

I want WOTLK to have the option to stop dead in its tracks and stay there permanently. I think this is possible in Vanilla right? Well I want that for WOTLK. I don't want to get involved for 18 months only to see it all go away, again…

  7. People actually think that Blizz is going to create brand new content for Classic while they can’t even add content to retail… All they have to do is just re release old expansions and they make more money, they’re not going to spend time, money and resources making classic+

  8. WOTLK is the last stop for me unless they do some kind of classic+ with new content. I’m not interested in Cata and I’m not interested in Dragonflight
