Castlevania Symphony of the Night on Sega Genesis & Mega Drive

Castlevania Symphony of the Night is a stunning PlayStation 1 and Sega Saturn game. Fans of the Sega Genesis and Mega Drive will remember the excellent Castlevania Bloodlines and Castlevania New Generations on the console but will also remember how Konami’s support on the Super Nintendo meant that some of the best games in the series never made it to Sega’s 16bit console. Well, Genesis and Mega Drive fans rejoice as we are getting, and I can’t believe I’m typing this, a port from the 32bit consoles of Castlevania Symphony of the Night.

  1. I thought I was blown away back in the day with Castlevania Bloodlines until I came across “SOTN” on the PS1 that kept me feeling fully satisfied playing a Castlevania game 😎. Now that my ALL-TIME favorite Castlevania game is being ported to the Genesis/MD systems, I am BEYOND hyped up about this coming for my and will DEFINITELY add this to my collection without hesitation 🥳🥳🥳!!!

  2. as a developer, can someone help me understand: why?

you can already play it on a Sega system.

if it's to have a metroidvania on a 16 bit platform then why not make a wholly new game?

  3. I'm very split on seeing all this hype. On one hand I'm so excited and can't wait to see the final product. On the other hand, I worry it's a Konami cease and desist slapdown away from never being finished…

  4. Honestly one of the best video games of all-time….I don't think I ever had a gaming high that touched the feeling I had when I discovered that there was a WHOLE SECOND MAP and got to effectively play the same game over again, but like it was the first time.

  5. Pigsy is a top-tier dude. His advocacy for SEGA Genesis/MD programming is outstanding. Plus, he's surrounded himself with loads of talent with this project which is great! I'm hyped for the final product. I just wish there was similar enthusiasm for SEGA CD/Mega SD 32X development as well.

Thanks for giving them a little exposure, Retro Gamer Boy.

  6. I loved your video man! I'm very grateful that talented people like Pigsy make games for Mega Drive, not only does he have Castlevania SOTN in action, he also has some SGDK lessons

In addition, I can say that about the project, it undoubtedly exceeded my expectations, it is visually impeccable (even if still in beta), and the soundtrack was also very adequate and faithful!

  7. This is incredible. I want it when it’s ready for release. I want a physical copy!

It can go right next to my physical copy of Mega Final Fight.

    Long live the Genesis!!!!

  8. Why couldn't you get CD audio via the Sega CD? Or is this strictly straight 16bit mega drive version? Cheers and forgive me ignorance. Edit: further in it's mentioned that it may be possible in the future.
