Cascadia Megaquake: How The ‘Big One’ Could Wipe Out the Pacific Northwest

The Cascadia Megaquake isn’t just a possibility—it’s an inevitable disaster! This seismic beast, expected to hit the Pacific Northwest, threatens to rival the most destructive earthquakes in U.S. history. The Cascadia Subduction Zone, a 700-mile fault line off North America’s west coast, has been building tension for centuries, and experts predict a magnitude 9.0 earthquake. The 1700 quake left a trail of destruction, submerging towns and creating tsunamis that reached as far as Japan. Now, the stakes are even higher, with over 13 million lives and trillions of dollars in infrastructure at risk. In this video, we break down the science, examine potential impacts, and gauge our preparedness for the Big One.

California, perched on the western edge of North America, is a hotbed of seismic activity thanks to its spot along the boundary of the Pacific and North American plates. Just north of California, there’s the Cascadia Subduction Zone—a geological powerhouse stretching from northern California all the way to British Columbia. Here, the Juan de Fuca Plate is sliding under the North American Plate, stirring up earthquakes and volcanic action. This 700-mile-long fault line has long been a ticking seismic time bomb.

  2. Bible Prophecy trumps what these guys say and it IS SET TO GO ANY DAY due to the Christ ages in the earths mantle being affected by the solar x flares and also the photon belt we are about to go through. It will likely happen by Christmas according to the Divine. If you look at the pacific rim and now the mid west faults are all waking up and will do so QUICKLY. Jesus is the only SAVING GRACE. Pray and ask forgiveness for your sins for He died for us so He could come save us, but entrance to Heaven is repentance. There will be no other help.

  3. The Ring of Fire is a part of the Expanding Earth theory that ocean floor Expanding causes subduction zones. These 2008 links to images show that the Continental Drift theory was wrong about Pangea and the Earth was smaller 280 million years ago that ocean floors Expanding increases the diameter of the Earth., widening the distance between the continents, causing the water level to recede off of the continents.

  4. Father was stationed at afb a little south pf fairbanks alaska when the anchorage 1964 9.2 earthquake hit. Even though we were close to 400 miles away, (mountains inbetween) we could feel the shaking and the sidewalks rolled.

  5. I’ve been in many quakes, I just moved in to a brand new home in south SanJose 4 days later – bang , the Loma Preita earth quake hit – we were 5 miles from the epic center Oct. 17 1989 . It can can be big – but if it shakes a long time then there is much more damage. Thrust faults are very bad – they have those in LosGatos ,California! When quakes start swarm – meaning very small but over and over – over a six month period – look out these swarms surly end with a big one. Make it a quake day .

  6. I would leave a comment on the probability of the future behavioral schematics, but my opinion is quickly discounted by someone more knowledgeable than I am.
So I will refrain from commenting. Maybe the person who is more knowledgeable will make their opinions known to alleviate me embarrassing myself.
