The philipines should accept the help of the USA. It's easy for China to bully small Philipines fishermen vesels, but against the US Navy, they will run away with their tails inbetween their legs.

The international law is very clear on the South China Sea:
– parts of it belong to some ASEAN countries including the Philippines 🇵🇭,
– the rest of it is the international water,
– no part of it belongs to China🇨🇳 or Taiwan🇹🇼.
The Philippines 🇵🇭 needs to use arms first if necessary to protect themselves in order to invoke the US-Phillipines Mutual Defense treaty.
– The Chinese 🇨🇳 used a Grey Zone tactic to attack the Phillipine vessels in their own water.
If you don't fight back, you are waiting to lose.
Carpio must remember this by heart – “the MDT commitments do not apply in event of attack on Spratlys”.

Mr. Carpio himself has warned that the Malampaya gas reserves will soon run out and when this happens, the Philippines will incur more cost for its electricity supplies. The practical policy to pursue is to co-develop the SCS oil and gas reserves with China. There was a proposal for a 60/40 sharing of proceeds from such a cooperation project with China, whereby the Philippines gets the major benefit of 60%. However, the talks regarding this project have stalled due to issues concerning constitutional constraints and sovereignty. IMHO feelings of nationalistic pride is getting in the way of a successful cooperation and it appears China is being sensitive about this factor by insisting that the project's provisions remain silent on the issue of sovereignty. Ironically, the Philippines has eroded its claims to full sovereignty by increasing US military presence on its soil. By failing to secure energy resilience, the Philippines will experience economic difficulties in the future. If this happens, thank Mr. Carpio for that, including higher electricity costs which is getting worse by the day. Our beloved comedian Dolphy once remarked, "You cannot eat pride, but you can eat pried chicken." Let's cultivate genuine pride as a freedom loving people, as we pursue realistic practicality. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!
There is no worry about the MDT to invoke because the UN should have had Armed Forces to enforce the UNCLOS. Just my opinion .

Amor Propio! If it's all about that we will lose all of our EEZ in WPS. If the government doesn't want to ask favor not just yet, here's an alternate solution that I'd like to suggest— In civil aviation, we got WET LEASE. Vessels changes will be just Registration Number and Flag. Crew, operation and maintenance will be the responsibility of the Lessor Government, while Philippines will pay a monthly very high rent per vessel. Amor Propio? I don't think we can afford that, really.
