Dear Disney fans and all lovely and good people,as Disney's employee on Castaway I think that you deserve to know couple of things regarding Island. Just recently went home for vacation but from reasons which will be explained in text I can not same my name, but let just say that I am currently was employed on Castaway Cay as international worker. Yes, very same island that many of you love and gladly going there to experience nice beaches and Disney level of excellence that we are so proud on. Yes, very same that island. As you all in states already knows, Disney is proud on their inclusion policy, fair treatment of all employees, promoting meritocracy and fighting against racism, nepotism and similar backwards things. Well, regarding Castaway Cay, you should know several things that make you think again about Castaway. As island international employee I need to bring couple of things to your attention regarding mistreatment of international employees under Disney/Bahamian rule.I arrived long time ago on Castaway and started my carrier as lifeguard and at that time most of island crew where internationals from all over the world, also we had local Bahamians as well. Everything was working fantastic, our crew was hired according by Disney very strict and demanding rules, which allowed company to provide best level of service for American/Disney’s guests and provide superb experience. Recruitment process was very strict(for lifeguards), requirements where that everyone who applied for this position supposed to be superb swimmer, with previous work experience in similar area, police/criminal background check and etcetera. Upon arrival on island we used to had drug test, swim test and if you fail you are going back home. This process, along with Disney strict work policies, where enabling Disney’s guests superb experience and safety on island, because we had team of proven lifeguards ready to act at any moment. However, in past 2-3 years things started to change from bad to worse, dropping down in recruitment requirements, general negligence, and promoting Bahamians only work policies especially. All this things and especially Bahamians only work policy above anything else leaded to deteoriation and dropping down in quality of the workers, safety of the island crew and pushing on side Disney inclusion and everyone are equal policies. As Disney employee, it’s my duty to inform everyone about grave injustice and mistreatment of international island crew that is going right now on Castaway Cay, and Disney’s indifference toward that. For past 2-3 years, DCL is under pressure of Bahamian government to apply Bahamians only policy despite the fact that their law allows 20:80 ratio in Bahamian favor, and that rule started to create lots of problem and mistreatment, racism and bad treatment of international workers including American one on Castaway Cay. Also, created generally unsafe environment for Guests. As interactional worker who embraced inclusion, Disney way of running business, who until now was winning, I feel obligated to turn attention of world on what is going for past 2 years on Disney private Island. So, here we go:
Bahamians only work policy means that all international will be replaced Bahamian regardless their skills or level of competency, that means that does not matter if Bahamian is completely lacks essential skill for some position, he/she is not fit and etc, he/she be brought on position despite total incompetence. As lifeguard, I will first speak about impact on our department and safety of the Guests and that about general situation on island.
For past several months for new lifeguard’s crew there is almost no any requirement for job except being Bahamian. New hires all all Bahamians, 90 percent of them does not know to swim properly or at all, and lacking any skill for position. Swim test is canceled, so right now people who are in charged for guests rescue/assistance are completely incompetent and bad swimmers who can even past swim test or even swim properly. Company is pressed by Bahamian government and new Bahamian island director Earle Bettel, who’s is racist toward anyone who is not Bahamian, to hire more and more Bahamians regarding the fact that they are incompetent and lack any qualifications for job. Mr.Earle repeated several times publicly that his goal is to replace all internationals with Bahamians, and we all going to be here just until he finds someone from Bahamas to replace us. Our lifeguards managers are also Bahamians, and we been told that any key position on island from now one can be held Bahamians only. International workers are been said in face every week that will be replaced very soon, and Bahamians enjoy doing that. Very inclusive and totally we are all equal Disney policies, right?
As professional, I am deeply worried about safety of our Guests on island cause most incompetent peoples are hired for the job. Another thing is general safety of crew and guests. As I told you earlier in text, police background check was mandatory, but now that is cancelled to, but only for Bahamians. While internationals every time when renewing work permit need to submit police background check, is not anymore needed for Bahamians. As result of that I discovered that we have more and more new hires on island have criminal record, and spent couple of years/months in prison. We have burglars, thieves, (perhaps even murderers) and similar scum now on island. Just imagine that people with criminal record are in charge for guest safety, and we have to live with them on castaway. But company is unfortunately forced to tolerate this cause of Bahamian government and Mr.Earle Bettel. Drug test for new hires and random drug test are still mandatory, but: due to the fact that drugs and marijuana are very common among Bahamians they cancelled urine and switch to saliva drug testing cause if you rinse mouth with vinegar prior testing, will come out negative. They don’t one to lose their Bahamians employees and helping them in every way possible to deceive drug testing. Matter of fact, if you walk on Castaway during nighttime, you can sometimes smell marijuana in certain parts of island. In other departments situation is pretty much the same: Bahamians only new hires, incompetent, with dubious criminal records and similar. Encouraged by island director, everyone are bringing their friends, relatives, cousins to work here, despite the fact their only qualification for job is being Bahamian.
Unfortunately, DCL is forced to accept this behavior and play by Bahamian rules, and from some reason does not try to fight back. At this moment Castaway is running on incompetence, nepotism and racism like policies toward anyone who is not Bahamian.
As Disney employee, I am using this opportunity to reach you in hope that somehow by making this public, Disney will be forced to act and stop this shameful behavior toward their international employees on Castaway and fight back Bahamian government and Mr.Earle Bettel.
At this moment on island, Disney inclusion policy is failing big time and something needs to be done
On the subject of cleanliness of the rooms, everything you said is SPOT ON!! I have only cruised with Carnival, and over the last 11 years I have averaged about 5 cruises a year,….In fact I met you on a cruise a couple years ago. I've been on old ships and some of the newest of ships, and ALWAYS the rooms are overly dusty, beds are made up very sloppy, Once (and only once) I discovered they didn't change the sheets in the bed from the last person that stayed in the room! The bathroom always stinks like pee thanks to that nasty OLD toilet brush they leave in the bathrooms. I'm always finding other peoples hair all over the room. A lot of the time the carpet is dirty as well. I started bringing a can of disinfectant to clean the room and I make them take the toilet brush out of the room. I own a cleaning business, I understand people only see what wasn't cleaned and not was cleaned. When it comes to cleaning every day you become complacent, this is where the House Keeping Management's important role comes in, they simply need to do a better job at monitoring. There is a lot of pressure to turn the rooms around, however, with the correct protocol the rooms could be a lot cleaner. But even with all this said I still cruise with Carnival, why???…..Because it's the fun ship! I love the diversity of people, the way Carnival treats customers, the list goes on! They actually do a lot right I feel. But they could do a lot better in this department! I noticed once they started back up after Covid the cleanliness became a lot worse, manly due to new workers I'm sure.
while I understand that we need these reviews and this information, but what do we do with it once you provide it??? I’m going on my first cruise and the worst thing I’ve done is get on Youtube and watch review videos! I’ve doubled my anxiety, I’m praying I don’t have an awful time for the amount of money I’ve spent on this trip and at the prices I’ve seen, Walmart of the seas is really very elitist sounding! Maybe while you guys are feeling like your offering great tips and advice, some of it is off putting and deters folks like me from even venturing out. This and a few other videos from different sources have me ready to cancel my cruise and just go to a resort!
I cruised on the Carnival Panorama the first year it came to L.A. I had a fantastic time. I booked a Havan Cabana cabin. Very chill and exclusive with a private bar and large hot tubs. As far as Downtown L.A. well it's actually better then it was in the 80s when I used to hang out in the arts district. L.A. is a very large city. Depending on where you go you can find anything your looking for. I love L.A. and will never leave. I would suggest that next time you come here stay in Long Beach, just make sure you are in the good part of the city. Much closer to the port. Or if you want to go somewhere that is squeaky clean (Not what I like) stay somewhere in Orange County.
J, I don't know how to message you privately, but this channel's just recording notable commentators videos and uploading the recordings. Today I saw they were using your video. https://youtube.com/shorts/-MJnD38BTko?si=EuBnxhMYPqTUBL4I
You know there are going to be problems from time to time with these ships and I know it’s hard to do but you should take it with a grain of salt. The Carnival class ship that includes The Panorama has had issues with the engines that to me believes it’s with the builders of the ship. I was on The Panorama when it had its first engine issue so instead of going to Mazatlan we spent the day in Ensenada where a crew boarded the ship to fix the problem. But now it’s happened again so dry dock is necessary so the panorama is in Oregon getting worked on
The Carnival Breeze was the filthiest Carnival ship I had ever cruised on (Sep 2023)
1. My balcony cabin had carpet that was absolutely filthy 2. Dining room chairs looked as though passengers were eating on the seats rather than on the tables. 3. Telephone in the cabin had a thick, brownish, greasy like substance over the entire phone…I had to scrub the phone with 4 Lysol wipes in order to remove the filth. 4. Breakfast staff delivered a glass of warm grapefruit juice with someone else’s lipstick print on the rim of the glass…totally unhygienic!
I always bring Lysol wipes and re-clean my cabins upon first embarking.
Carnival should be ashamed of itself for the filthy condition of the Breeze.
Filth is filth! and it has very little to do with the age of the ship…or one person’s perception of filth in comparison to another’s.
I have been cruising since 1997 and I will continue cruising, as it is one of my favorite types of vacation; however, Carnival has become like the greasy truck stop cruise line of the cruise industry in comparison to what it was like in the past.
Now…I only cruise Carnival when friends invite me…or when I’m visiting my children in LA/Long Beach, CA and I want to get away for a quick 4 or 5 day getaway…otherwise, I choose a more premium cruise line.
Carnival could fix this problem but they don't want to I arrive to my room and the key did not work I had to go to customer relations desk and wait an hour and a half to get my key reprogrammed. Zero Fs given. I sent a letter to Christine Duffy a corporate adapter to form letter ridiculous carnival sucks
My first sailing was on carnival Magic. It’s a lovely ship but it’s dated needs some updating. I’ll never forget that trip! I do plan to sail on carnival again. For the economical person looking for a vacation I think carnival is the way to go.
The Panorama is a Vista Class ship. The Vista ship was the first of the class. It also had propulsion issues and had to go to dry dock to fix. Maybe they both were built on a Monday like your Tesla, Jay😂😂
I just cruised on the Carnival Venezia. My cabin had dried blood on the carpet, the bedding had dried blood on it. The fixtures in the restroom were not cleaned as well. I did bring my findings to Guest Services. The cabin steward did correct the deficiencies immediately. I emailed, with pictures to Carnival. Although this one unfortunate incident didnot define my entire cruising experience, it surely did not start off very good. I'm going to give Carnival another chance but they do have a "Quality Control Problem" that needs to be addressed.

YOU KNOW THAT ALL THESE COMPLAINTS ARE all COMING FROM THE Caribbean where black people go!
I’ve MSC is worse. We like Carnival, now prefer Princess which is upscale carnival. Royal Caribbean is good but they nickel and dime
I remember a slight odor of sewage in our bathroom on Carnival Breeze back in July. Lasted about 15 mins then went away…

Welcome to cali you see it all over love my home state but there is a serious problem
LA has become a cesspool. You think you've been dropped into a 3rd world country when there.
I live in Los Angeles and it sucks here. I'm not surprised people are losing their minds in the streets. I hate this place 😂
