Oh Carmen, why'd you have to make me so conflicted about stalking? I mean, generally I'm not into it (too lazy), but I'll stalk you if you really want me to (I'm in Australia… can you send airfare?).
Love this girl. She's the new gen of comedy; a true natural. Give her a bigger (and better) crowd that's well lit so she can do more crowd work, and she would kill it. Plus, she doesn't use her cell phone on stage to glance at all the time because she actually memorized her set! Extreme comedy that's very (sometimes too) intelligent, not to mention her confidence is so welcoming. The awesome god bit at the beginning sets the tone for what's to come, and I knew I was in for something special. Tackling all the modern day topics such as abortion, stalking, school shootings, serial killers, STDs, and anything else that is now the world we live in just proves that this IS the new comedy. Laugh at it, like it, or just leave. ""We" don't care.
She also doesn't say "Uh" all the time like so many newer female comediennes trying to search their thoughts between sentences. Her set is sharp, disciplined, and well thought out. I've seen almost all female comics over the last two months here, and Carmen delivers. But she'll not attract everyone with her set, and that's a good thing. Her frame of mind and her content are extreme, and that IS the new generation of comedy in 2024.
They said the same thing about Lenny Bruce, George Carlin, and so many others. Strong, snappy and confident, she really doesn't GAF, otherwise she'd change to cookie-cutter comedy to attract the masses. And I love her for sticking to what she thinks is funny! And we love her for that. Great set!
