The Carcharodons are easily one of the most feared and popular Space Marine chapters in the entirety of Warhammer 40k’s lore, and it’s easy to see why. They are an exiled space marine chapter that has lurked within the outer dark for 10,000 years acting as the Imperium of Mankind’s first line of defense against the alien, the witch, and the heretic. Also they all look like shark people with jet black eyes, pale skin and razor sharp teeth! It doesn’t get any cooler than that! On the other hand though, the chapter has a shady past and some super grim dark secrets the inquisition wouldn’t look to Fondly on… but what is this notorious chapter of seemingly loyalist Renegades all about? come with me as we dive head first into the Grim dark and learn everything there is to know about the space sharks, The Carcharodon Astra

  1. Yeah, your intros are too much…. Put the thesaurus away bro…. It just seems like you’re dragging it out… Always skip. The “meat and potatoes” of your vids are always worthwhile though. Sorry (not trying to be a d!ck).

  2. Yea I still dont really know if you can call the enslaving legion "good guys."

We always got to remember that there are no Good Guys in Warhammer 40,000

The Imperium is the most "palatable" of all the evils of the galaxy. No need to justify atrocities, just accept your favs are not nice people

  3. Great video , honestly liked it , the only thing I think you forgot is that in recent lore they have been seemingly brought into the fold to some degree . They were gifted the Raptors home world post Badab. I don't think they've gotten much lore since so I don't think we know what they're up to nowadays. Only reason I remembered that nugget is cuz I was deep diving myself recently as I was thinking of painting a Shark Army

  4. I love your videos Wes, but it’s pronounced car-care-uh-dons. It’s an actual word based on the Greek word for shark. You did such an amazing job with this, but didn’t take the time to check the pronunciation. Like if someone made an incredibly detailed video of Chevrolets sports car, but kept pronouncing corvette as kor-vee-tay. Still, good video, still giving a thumbs up.

  5. “In complete silence, without so much as a tasteful war cry.”

Tying this in to the previous video ranking all the war cries, I think Wes would initially give them an F, but then raise it up to a D because it adds to their creepy factor. Tho regardless, not having something along the lines of “Blood in the water!” is a definite shame.

  6. The Space Sharks are like a sign post to me. How do I create & justify a disassociated home brew chapter that's not traitorous? Ah I got it … A Chapter made doo doo on the floor during the Great Crusade. Then autistic daddy & his daddy sent them on perma crusade.
On top of it. All of their gene flaws make sense too. I bet they took in renegades & stole gene seed.

  7. They seem like a mix of kurze and sanguinius or maybe just kurze and they are the part that turned against their primearch and followed the red wake but still that wasnt enough so they were exiled made too survive on their own until they die too the great enemy but the sharks did way better then any ever could have expected also the way u talk they seem like a giant legion couse how else do u just enslave a whole planets population

  8. Bail Shar fighting a world eater gladiator style at the ashen claws fortress is easily one of my favorite moments. Hopefully Robbie Mcniven is the writer of the third book falling Bail & khauri along with the 3rd company. The first 2 books were awesome

  9. One of the Grim-Dark aspects I think the sharky-bois are good candidates for is being the survivors of an alternate, but now extinct, time line.

Nearly every time time-travel is explored, few have the courage to engage in the concept of non-causality. Whatever version of events they came from is gone, gone for good, and now they're stuck.

For those unaware, if you look at time as merely an arrangement of matter then, you could in theory, go back in time and kill your grandfather and still exist, as you'd simply be a collection of particles located at a point in space time. If you went back to the future, you'd find a timeline where you never happened, as if transported to an alternate reality. When in truth, the timeline you came from has been 'overwritten' so to speak.

  10. That was a perfect description of my second favorite Space Marine chapter but you did leave out a few things 1 they have Mind Broken a Dark Eldar Drackon Lieutenant. 2the Space Marine of the Carcharodons are known taller and larger than most other Space Marine Chapters so Tyberos would be taller the closest someone got was around 11 feet.

  11. I think if I was more passionate about Warhammer I'd be one of their fan boys… WesHammer deep dives is about how passionate I go, but, would love to start collecting the models again due to you Wes

  12. Vulka Fenrika = Space Wolves… Charcaradon Astra = Space Sharks… it's not really difficult logic to follow… some people like to argue just to argue, maybe they made a head canon home brew and now they are caught in their feelings… lol…

  13. Just want to add that the little known Executioners chapter are the only known force to fight the Space Sharks to a standstill in hand to hand combat. They also prevailed over the Minotaurs multiple times in similar engagements. I wish we had more lore on them…

Also unlike the two "asshole" chapters, the Executioners apparently have a pretty close bond of brotherhood with the Salamanders
