Funnily enough, my father and I watched 'Capricorn One' last weekend courtesy of Amazon Prime (even though I own the Blu-ray) and we thoroughly enjoyed the movie. 🙂
Both 'Capricorn One' and 'Outland' (starring Sean Connery and Peter Boyle) are Peter Hyams movies and it's interesting that like Ridley Scott's characters in 'Alien' referring to "The Company" which owns and runs everything on Earth, Peter Hyams created Con-Amalgamate which Hal Holbrook's character refers to in 'Capricorn One' and Con-Amalgamate or Con-Am rears its ugly head again in 'Outland', so it's a great detail that some people might miss.
It takes around 7 months for a spacecraft constructed NOW to reach Mars. In the 1970s it would have been longer.
Kojak was actually on TV when this film was released. Telly was actually a pretty big star….. on the Telly 😂
I saw this when it originally aired. I was a kid sleeping over at my cousins cause they had cable tv and we didn't. I remember feeling helpless and angry when they were being chased down. They didn't do anything wrong.
One of my all-time favorite movies. Saw it in the theater when it came out. Have always thought it would make a great double feature with Coma!

How many Love Boat episodes would it take to showcase this golden rich cast of old actors.
I like how this movie proposes that NASA is operating on the tightest of margins where one slip means congress cutting funding, but apparently it has a bottomless "kill anybody/anywhere and cover-up" budget.
