  1. It's magic… All these camera releases and it just reminds how well Panasonic designed their cameras – The mic port is up high out the way of the flip screen. The batteries are great. With the PDAF, christ, it's going to be such a good future 🫶 As you say, it's hard to go wrong these days, just get out there and shoot. Still, that cripple hammer 🤣

  2. "The best camera is one you can afford to replace" … Literally the most true statement I have heard about how I operate… I have a R6 which is used for photography being my income and I refuse to do video with it on my YT channel as I don't want to have to buy another if it gets damaged, so I use a gopro. But this R8 may so be replacing the gopro, just might!!

  3. The afford to replace line! 🔥So true! It seems like this might be to replace the m50. That's what we have as an entry level mirrorless and it seems like Canon is probably moving way from the EF-M mount and going for just the R series. The fact that they've never made a EF-M nifty 50 is telling.

  4. As a truly amateur photographer I don't really care what I am using. I have images on my walls using an Iphone, a pocket Sony, and my Canon t6i. Any expert can tell the difference. I've been fortunate to travel to Eurpoe a few times (I'm nearly 70) and it's too easy to rely on my phone or the Sony. Perhaps I should be a bit more adventueous with my Canon in hopes of breaking it since I can aforrd to replace it. I better clear that with the Mrs. Great video and thanks for going into the frigid water so we didn't have to.

  5. Hi Pete! I live and shoot in and around Grand Teton and Yellowstone national parks where it spends lots of the winter at or below -20 F (you can convert to metric degrees since the USA has our own temperature scale that no one else uses 😉 I LOVE the Vallerret merino liner touch photography gloves! When it's just sorta cold it is the only glove I need, when it is really cold they allow me to operate cameras (mostly) and not have to hold them with my bare hands. Touch screen functionality is meh, but it adds a little non-slip touch that I like. YMMV. Unfortunately, they will hide your ink.
