In the US we call it dodgeball and it is brutal there's one or two kids in the center of the gym in the face off of the basketball court and all the other kids around one end of the basketball court And they have to run past without getting in Or they can catch the ball if you get hit you're out and you join the attacking team and those kids will whip those balls hard they it's also called bombardment but I can see how a cannonball makes sense too. it is a brutal sport let me tell you kids get hurt all the time you get beaned off the head and hitting the solar plexus and you can lose your wind gasping on the floor those kids are nasty and people revenge it too if it bounces it doesn't count so you can't hit someone off the balance off the wall or off the floor.
